When I first saw the trophy, I looked at my calendar to see if this was April 1. But even then, this would have been considered a very cruel April Fool's joke.
 
I showed a pic of the trophy to my wife and she was oh how cute. When she realized it's going to the winner of a football game she started laughing. Said it could be worse though. They could have made the family a gay couple holding hands with their two adopted children and their corn. . .
 
im sure this has probably been done, but has anyone posted the petition on iowastate.rivals.com? seems odd to me that there are only 733 sigs, when we generally destroy any online poll.

Please... Political/religious trumped up family values are the entire reason this trophy exists in the first place.
 
ok...with the suggestions of rholtgraves and a pic from stateomind I came up with this. not that I'm a real artist, but you can figure it out. Of course you would have to make it 3D (that's for all the hok fans in attendance) and give it a nice base with both logos on it.

Up to 850 signatures, would love to see it get to 1000. I'm still hopeful we'll see a press release tomorrow from the ICGA on a redesign after the terrible PR they've been getting all weekend, but lets keep up the pressure just in case they don't see the error of their ways.

Unfortunately 1000 signatures won't cut it. The Rag's poll has more votes against it than the petition has signatures right now. Realistically, for Iowa Corn to do anything about this, the pressure will have to be non-stop. The petition will need 20,000 signatures to really mean anything, and frankly that should be easily obtained if this thing gets circulated on the respective campuses. Additionally, student gov't on both should get involved and speak against the corporate sponsorship and regain control over the trophy. Email student gov't, email Iowa Corn, email Pollard, write letters to the editor. Iowa corn will never cede doing anything crappy, so an out has to be developed. Maybe this thing can go to the Most Valuable Player from Iowa or something.

I figured it out. The winner of this years game should be rewarded with a giant sledgehammer that is used to pound the crap out of the iowa corn by Willow Tree. This way we infuse history into the new trophy immediately! Corn Hammer... Hell, I'd even take a full size tractor for the trophy that gets driven over the precious moments figurine. I'm not against farmers, I'm against that trophy...
