New coach, new image

Same logo but new jerseys, alter the helmet a little, get rid of the dumb *** inflatable tunnel to run out on the field in. The AD should really be kicking themselves over not putting the tunnel between JTS and the lockeroom out on the field. That was as natural of an entrance as you can get but they didn't want to pony up the extra $100,000 to rerun existing infrastructure.

I think that can be saved yet. My suggestion is to put up a plexiglass tunnel to the field from the current end of the tunnel. Run some fog on the bottom half of the tunnel as the team walks in so you can just see everything above the knee.

Unique and get rid of the blow up tunnel. Cheap too. Can add an exit by the other side so they can still get through that area.

See what I mean. How can you not like this logo? It's got the 'Cy'; it's got the 'cyclone'; and it looks good. BTW, I'm in favor of keeping the 'I-State' logo as primary. But secondary logos like this on the jersey, pant, alternate helmet, or stationary, any marketing...would be awesome. There are some other good alternative , 2* logos also. Keep some of them. Mix it up.

That was the most embarrassing mock up of a new helmet ive seen. That was reallllyyyyy bad. Bird and blender needs to die.

The one chant that people get loud for? Yeah let's get rid of it. Good call.

If there's one good thing that came out of the Jeff Johnson experience it was the CYCLONE POWER chant. Much better than the spelling lesson that goes on at Kinnick every week.

It's different. It also looks like a 3rd grade football team helmet.

If you want to add alternate uniforms I am for that, but some teams do it well with out the cartoon graphics.

Interesting thing the other night I went out and I met a guy that recognized my jacket with I state on it. Turns out he was a 3rd string QB at Iowa state during the Earle Bruce days. I think the I state logo works and I get comments all the time in Minnesota about Iowa state but our gold needs to be updated and uniforms. I wouldn't mind if we brought back the old logo for helmets and a secondary logo.

I would trip an old person if it meant we could use that logo again.

Not surprising in Minnesota - Minnesota kids represent the largest contingent of out of state students and they are our neighbors.

I'm at a D3 college for grad school far from Big 12 territory, and frequently wear "I-State" logo shirts and shorts to the gym. Not much actually says "Iowa State" or "Cyclones" but I get people chatting about recent games 2 or 3 days a week either on the walk to the gym or while there. A few weeks ago I was shooting hoops and made a few 3s in a row when a guy stretching in the corner yelled out "guess they teach everyone at Iowa State how to hit the 3"

I've never had anyone say "oh, Idaho/Illinois/Indiana State?" It's recognizable. I've had a few people ask about my hat that has Walking Cy on it, but that one's a little more obscure. I wouldn't mind seeing Walking Cy on the V of some sports' jersey necklines or on shorts/pants instead of the I-State, but I like the helmet. It's grown on me over the years.

Just stopping in one last time to discuss football.

ISU showed a lot of heart in Morgantown, but they just couldnt channel it.

The Campbell hire was a home run for you guys. I think you will be just as tough, but make fewer mistakes.

What about incorporating the old tornado logo on the uniforms in place of the generic shoulder pad stripes we have now. I don't have any graphic design skills, but in my head that's a sharp and unique uni feature.

I-State is the logo, not what you are supposed to call Iowa State. I find it odd at how many people don't understand that. The I-State logo is much more recognizable than other logos we have had.

And, we always called it I-State, as far back as the 1970's.

I have never, and can't recall anyone I know, refer verbally to Iowa State as "I-State" but perhaps it's a generational thing. I don't even call it ISU unless I'm typing and even that seems a little odd (such as in a status or tweet when I try to keep it short) In some states you either go to "XYZ" or you go to "State" and that seems odd too. People ask where I went to school and it's "Iowa State" and I've rarely heard it called anything else.

Pretty much the story of the Rhoads era. Play our ***** off, lose. Playing hard only gets you so far when you constantly play out of position and beat yourself with a variety of errors.

I'm a fan of adding black and grey alternate uniforms, not changing the brand or logo. Black uniforms would be amazing IMO.

i think people are giving a little to much credit to the logo. like it is why people out of the region actually know who iowa state is now. its because our basketball team blew up. not because putting an I next to state was such an amazing idea.

Problem is not the logo. It's the uniforms and horrific game experience (entrance, smoke on the watet, etc.). Worst part of Rhoads and Jamie is that this **** was easiest to fix. Pollard is a ******* nerd and it reflects in our branding/sports marketing.

I think there are going to be a lot of disappointed people in this thread. First alternative uniforms cost money, enough said there and we are a low priority for Nike so I doubt they will put a lot of effort into producing alternative uniforms for us considering they can't even you our real colors for our normal uniforms.
