New 2011 Scholarship Offer

He will be rated top 100 coming out of high school. I remember when we offered Zeller and he was to skinny. Then we all were ****** off because he shot up to top 20 ranked and went to North Carolina.

Hello, I normally don't post over here, but since no one on CR is talking about this, and I actually have some knowledge, here we go.

Anyway, I got to play with this kid 2x last week. Didn't know who he was at the time, but got some general background on him from talking with him. Very nice kid. This thread is pretty accurate, IMO, except he's not a project. Yes, he's very very very skinny, but hopefully he fills out as he gets older. As someone said, he's only 16. VERY SKILLED. Excellent range and shoots a very high percentage. Excellent in the post as well. Good offensive rebounder, needs work on defensive rebounding. Like most young bigs, needs to learn not to leave his feet all the time on defense. He's a legit 6'8" and probably growing.

In short, he's VERY LEGIT, and I'm sure will have a # of additional offers.

Thanks for your insight!

I'm surprised I have never heard of this guy. Iowa high school basketball is a small world. For most D-I recruits, you have at least heard of them by this point in their careers, such as Marsden, Thompson, Haluska, Horner, Brunner, Gatens, etc.

Hopefully he is just a late bloomer, a la Justin Hamilton. Wait, maybe that's not such a good thing...

Could he ever be a shooting guard to start off? Just wondering due to his weight.

You people are amazing, I'm sure none of you put on any weight between your junior year of high school and your freshman year of college. It is amazing how losing in basketball makes everyone negative about everything. This kid who is a nephew of an ISU great, gets an offer that he is probably excited about, until he sees that fans are ripping on him.
Kid is 16, give him a chance to grow. There aren't that many recruits with NBA ready bodies, and those that are likely are going to UNC or Kansas.

Remember when we use to recruit against the power schools? That's why all the other big 12 coaches love McD. They don't have to worry about losing anybody to him.
JP, make the decision that has to be made.

Yes...they are related, not sure the connection. Averaged 21 points and 10 rebs, 1st team all-state by several publications.

Skilled big, young for his class, shot 55 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line. Think of him in the Adam Koch mold...but he could get a little taller as he's not yet 17.

Sounds good, I liked the way Koch played.

It's no wonder why we suck so bad!!!! I do remember when we used to recruit big time players. Adam Koch would get ate alive in an 18 game big 12 season. sorry

This kid sounds like a decent prospect. It will be interested to see how he develops over the next year. Hopefully he does well and becomes a Cyclone.

But I can't help but agree with those who are concerned about our recruiting. I'm not trying to bag on this kid, because he has time to develop. However, until we are competing with Top 50 programs on a regular basis for recruits, we will be struggling to make the postseason just about every year.

Time to get RECRUITS. Almost no reason to get excited until we see more Brackin-esque players coming to ISU.
