NBA Talent on our current roster?

I can't believe people don't think McGee has a shot at the NBA eventually. He could easily get into the D-league and get into the NBA from there. He's extremely athletic, easily the most athletic player on our team. I'd also argue that he's the best 3 point shooter in the big 12, and probably top 20 in the NCAA. He's a great basketball player, plays defense can rebound, dribble, shoot and dunk/block shots with his jumping ability. I think he'd have a shot.

I love Tyrus and he has a nice skill set. I'm not sure about him either way, he could be a player in the NBA or he could be a good one overseas.

Tyrus I can see having a similar pro role as Darion Anderson. DA was a better rebounder and Tyrus a better shooter, but I don't see Tyrus having an NBA career. Prove me wrong TM

I think Anderson is a better 1 and Tyrus is a natural 2. Tyrus would be a pretty short 2 in the league and he hasn't shown hardly any ability to play the 1. Like a lot of players he looks like a very good college 2 that doesn't fit at the next level.

He is under 6 feet tall and can't play point and won't be able to guard nba 2's at all. I don't think its very likely

I agree with this although I thought he was a shade over 6'. A guy his size will most likely have to play some PG and he can't.

ISUs roster is full of tweeners. That's part of the reason they ended up at ISU. They are good enough to excel at the college level, but not prototypical NBA athletes and wont fit into the same roles there.

Look at last year. ISU matched up and played pretty well against a UK team filled with prototype NBA players. We had one NBA pick last year who himself is a tweener.

This is spot on.

However, if you think Babb will would even get a shot you are nuts. Much better players out there that can play similar defense but are way more consistent offensively. Overseas for him if he wants a shot.

Babb is 6'6 and 225lb! That is a NBA body if I've ever seen one. He can defend anyone from from the PG to SF. Plus, the guy doesn't even have to score and he impacts the game in a positive way. Only 17 turnovers on the year and he's averaging 39 minutes per game in the big 12. Obviously, Fred thinks hes one of our best players with that stat alone. You don't think NBA scouts would love a lock down defender. If he locks people down in the NBA summer league, he will find a spot on someone's roster. You can get a job in the NBA based on defense alone.

Sorry, it just isn't likely. The players you see as "defensive specialists" in the NBA did a lot more in college than you probably think. Babb is too limited offensively. He would need to improve a ton to get drafted. He is also not very quick compared to the players who are getting drafted. There will probably be about 45-50 college players taken, and he is just not a top 50 player.

If Babb was as good from the three as Christopherson was, or could drive like Garret he'd have a shot... But what he is now wont be enough.

I didn't say he would get drafted. I said "if" he locks down some good players in the summer league, he may get a chance. But to say Babb has "no shot" is ridiculous. I'm sure Hoiberg knows plenty of GM's who would love a defender.

Sorry, love the team we have this year but Clyburn is the only one with an outside shot of getting drafted. These guys will make some money playing ball but we're talking D League or Europe.

Babb has no chance at an NBA roster spot, but only for one reason: Isaiah Thomas does not control a roster anymore.

Or just falls? Can you give a specific example, because I have never seen him just fall. He does go all out and is not afraid of hitting the deck.

His coordination is superior now, but yes, perhaps he will get even better.

He's been on the floor after a bunch of made free throws. Never noticed before but heitclone was right.

I think your glasses are a little too tinted...

Bored at work and got to thinking about if anybody or how many people on our roster could end up in the NBA. Its exciting to think about having all these cyclones in the NBA and what it can do for recruiting. Just wanted to see what everyone thoughts were?

I was thinking

  1. Lucious - Possible if turnover problems got fixed and he worked his butt off
  2. Babb - I wish but not enough offense. (Unless they want a lock down defender)
  3. Clyburn - Possible (has the size just needs to hit the weight room hard)
  4. Ejim - Honestly think he has the best chance. (Reminds me of kenneth Faried type player for the NBA)
  5. Niang - I think in a few years he'll be heading to the NBA if he continues to improve
  6. Mcgee - Honestly with the type of game he plays could really flourish in the NBA (Probably over seas)

If we have that much NBA talent on our roster, why did we lose tonight? Why did we lose to a bad Iowa team?
