NBA Talent on our current roster?

Hard to believe that in 2007-2008 we had 3 future NBA players and finished 4 games under .500.

On second thought, Ejim is the one most likely to play on an Olympic team:smile:

That is very true, but I'm not sure I want to see him play with Nigeria and lose to the U.S. or Spain by 50 points. But it would be fun to get to see him go up against the best of the best

Clyburn and Ejim both have NBA potential.

If I had to bet my life I'd wager that none of our current roster plays in the NBA. Clyburn would be my lone wildcard but I don't think he looks quite like an NBA guy.

Melvin has no chance at the NBA level.

Maybe Will, Melvin (and Georges) just doesn't have the athleticism to make it in the NBA. Love the guy but he doesn't run or jump well. Standing still he can jump just fine but you can make a decent blooper reel off of the layups and dunks he's blown when having to make athletic plays on the move.

Out of the seniors Clyburn has the best shot. Other than that I think Niang will definitely have a shot when his time comes several years from now. I also think Dorsey-Walker will become a stud scorer and have a chance too.

Georges is skilled enough and definitely has the bball IQ but he's not even an average athlete. He'll be a great college player, that's all.

I wish I could argue with you on that one but I'm not sure I can. If he can prove that he can consistently score against great athletes, then I think he will give himself a chance. IMO his height will be a bigger problem then his athleticism when the time comes.

You must mean average NBA athlete.
Georges does not have a good vertical, but he is at the least an average athlete. His coordination, balance, and footwork are superior. Decent quickness and he will become stronger. Height/reach is not really an athletic quality. He will make a lot of money playing overseas.

Have you seen how many times a game he trips or just falls? His footwork is great in the post but when he's moving in the open floor, I'm scared for him. You could get a decent buzz taking a drink everytime Georges falls down. I agree though, he will play pro ball somewhere, just not here. Who knows, maybe coordination will come as he ages.

Or just falls? Can you give a specific example, because I have never seen him just fall. He does go all out and is not afraid of hitting the deck.

His coordination is superior now, but yes, perhaps he will get even better.

Clyburn.
He was the only one on the draft projections so far.
If Ejim can develop his shot and be more consistant, he has crazy potential with his rebounding ability.

IMO Will is about it. IsTyrus better than Dedric Willoughby? He didn't play much in the NBA. Melvin will be able to play pro ball if he wants to but that kid is SMART, so he will have many other options.

If Mike Taylor can play in the NBA, Tyrus McGee can play in the NBA. I think Will Clyburn has a shot, but that might be it unless Niang adds a little more bulk and athleticism to his game.

If Melvin gets a jumpshot down he has serious NBA potential. But you're right, he is very smart, and financially it could very well be better for him to get a real job in his field and not play professionally, whether that is NBA, D-league, or overseas. Especially if he falls short of the NBA, he is WAY too smart to be making 20k a year playing D league...

Players routinely make six figures overseas.

NBA seems to like 16-128 points a game, 6-10 boards, and 5-10 assists. We have so much balance on our team that no one piles up the stats.

Babb has an NBA body. I am surprised that he has not shot better.

Tyrus needs to get a starting job to get more stats.

KL and Clyburn will get to try out for someone.

ME may surprise. He is a better shooter than showcased so far.

Niang may be the closest in four years.

A LOT OF CLOSE, BUT NO CIGARS.

Brackins, DG, and Royce had bigger stats that helped. I think we have more of a unified team than individual stars.

That's a good point. But while you can make a lot of money playing overseas, moving to another country and having to adapt to another culture and language is a huge burden to bear. If I was crazy smart and could make 6 digits in the US doing a regular job, I would take that over playing ball in overseas any day. But from what I know about Melvin, he has moved around a lot and would have no trouble playing ball anywhere for that matter. Hopefully for him, he can get drafted to the NBA and make a 6 (or even 7) digit salary in the states. With his work ethic and attitude, I guy like him deserves it.
