NBA Talent on our current roster?

If we were looking at order of the six:
1.) McGee
2.) Clyburn
3.) Lucious
4.) Ejim
5.) Niang
6.) Babb

remember, NBA drafts on potential. It's why Andre Dummond got drafted so high.

Cyburn would be the most likely, followed by Ejim, Lucious, and Niang. Potentially Thomas who isn't on campus yet, if he can be Hoiberg 2.0...

I don't think it's fair to judge anyone that is not a senior at this point. How did you feel about the guy in my avatar before his senior year? Bet you thought we had no NBA talent then as well. Clyburn has the potential definitely, I wouldn't totally rule any of the others out. NBA talent is making a roster, I feel like we have a few guys who may get a shot. As far as NBA starters or significant time players, that's a different story.

Lucious is a true #1 and not a tweener like most good college PGs. If he played in the non conference like he is now he'd be on draft boards and it would be a question of high or low 2nd.

Clyburn has the height if he has a good tournament he should get himself drafted.

Those 2 will at the very least make summer camps they're locks for that.

Ejim- prob can't leave early he'd need another 2 inches or be a Kentucky freshman to be able to. But next year he'll get a lot of publicity and we'll see I think he'll get a lot of consideration.

Babb- Doubt it

Niang- The kid is awesome. Hard to tell what he'll look like as a junior/senior and develops more. Probably not tall enough to be a 4/5 in the NBA though.

IMO Clyburn has the most *potential*..but if I had my pick right now based off everything, it would actually be Tyrus McGee. Very strong, can finish (usually) and shoots lights out. Very high energy. Plays taller than he is too. He has proven time and time again he can shoot it from a lot of places on the floor and with a hand in his face, contested shots. I don't think he'd be a starter or anything in the NBA, but IMO he could definitely be a solid 10-15 minutes/night bench guy in the NBA eventually. I think Clyburn has potential and may grab some scouts' attention too. If he got better at ball handling and got a lot stronger, I could see him in the NBA someday somehow. I think he is weak right now, but if he really got stronger, he could make a little splash in the NBA someday.

I think in awhile Georges Niang if he can get a little quicker. He is a little bit of Kevin Love, but smaller. He might be small for the NBA, but he's crafty. NBA is better than NCAA though, so we'll have to see how this turns out.

Ejim is a fringe guy for me. I don't see him in the NBA now, but he has another year. He's improved a good amount every single year. It's possible he could be in the NBA, but I think he definitely has a shot overseas.

I'd have to say Lucious is like Ejim in a way for potential. He could do it, but I see him as an overseas type of guy, but you never know.

Tyrus needs to get a starting job to get more stats.

NBA drafts off potential big time. Tyrus has enough stats for people to take notice. One of the lottery picks last year wasn't even a starter (for Syracuse I believe).

Scouts do a lot more than just look at a stat sheet to determine if you're good or not.

I'm guessing you pay attention to the NBA then... they don't want seniors.. they want the young guys with huge potential.

Ejim will be a pretty dominate force next year with the youth we will have, he could be putting up some big numbers. His three point shooting has been solid this year. He had 19 and 11 with Withey playing 38 minutes in that game. Of the top 40 rpg in the country (where he is at 22) he is the best in rebounds per 40 as he plays 2 or more less minutes than everyone else, most play 30 or more. Best rebounder in the country per 40.

Not sure how to take this contradicting post, they don't want seniors but took a chance on a year removed DG?

NBA talent doesn't mean drafted, starter, plays a minute. It means making a roster and I think we have guys that can do that.

Didn't draft him. The draft will obviously have exceptions, but your post of its not fair to judge someone who isn't a senior is completely false because the NBA more than prefers younger guys with more upside.

But I might have read wrong somewhere, I was thinking draft... even though most of the time you get drafted to reach the NBA anyways. And I've been drinking.

I never mentioned the draft. I do not see any players on our current team leaving early which is why I said you can't judge them if they aren't seniors as DG was not even close to NBA after his junior year. That's my best summary for my post you quoted but I understand your current condition.

Ejim won't sniff an NBA roster. He's 6'-6" and his forte' is rebounding. That isn't going to fly in the NBA. He'll make some coin playing ball though if he chooses.

Cycl1 approves this post.

I too have given up on predicting NBA players, before the UCONN game last year (and Kentucky) I thought we would have Royce another year. I knew he was likely NBA talent but after the Texas game I thought he needed another year to be a 1st round pick. 2 games is all it took, if Will Clyburn goes off over the last month of the season which he has the potential to do, then all bets are off on him and McGee as well.

Clyburn will need ISU to get to the NCAA tourney and then have a good run there to have a chance at being drafted.

Too early to tell with Niang.

I'm not saying his game will ever catch up, but the only guy on the roster who's even close to NBA prototypical big man size is Percy Gibson. Let's see what happens next year when he's maybe a bigger part of the offense.

Lucious - Undrafted will try to get into the D-League (has an ok chance)
Clyburn - Drafted but will be way down the order and spend some years in the D-League (could make it from there)
Babb - Nope couple take his hair probably to Europe for a while and have a really good time with that
Melvin - Wold traveler going to be an Olyimpian and Europe all star
Georges - He will get dafted somewhere (kid can do what he puts his mind to obviously)
McGee - Undrafted goes nuts in the D-League for a little bit and makes a team after a season or two.
