I'd say just below average MCU film. All films introducing an entire team suffer from doing too much. Avengers worked because it didn't need world building. This one had to build and give every character their time. I won't go into other reasons I did and didn't like it.

This was my big concern about it - you have a person team, which we've never met, I've heard there are flashbacks and time jumping... It's a lot to put into 2 hours.

It did ok with it. Whether you love diversity in movies or hate it, I think it helped in this case. It made each of them more memorable with distinct characteristics.

Spoiler Comment
I really liked some of the twists the movie takes, but it started suffering from having too many villains. The main deviant was setting up to be cool, but ultimately didn't matter... I did enjoy its end. Family betrayal stuff was really interesting, but needed more set up. Should have done two movies... First movie about them fighting together against the deviants and the second movie about the betrayal.

Run time was almost 2:40. It felt long, but it didn't quite reach the"Ok, time to wrap this up. I'm ready to go home." stage. It got close though.

Thanks for everyone's input. Combining you guy's mostly positive input with a Rotten Tomatoes audience score much higher than the critic score, its got me feeling a bit more optimistic.

That is a pretty big discrepancy. I could see critics being tired of Marvel movies and trying to be "edgy" and reviewing them poorly.

A few parts of Eternals were ok. But a lot was bad. Slow, ridiculous attempts at one liners, waayyy to political, didn’t like some of the “acting”. Actually fell asleep twice. Didn’t even seem like a Marvel movie to me. Just my opinion though. Probably wouldn’t recommend if asked.

Generally liked it. It’s not gonna go in the multiple viewings bin though. It’s a slog. Thought the acting was good, a few interesting characters but a TON of crying. Definitely left it wanting more however. Genuinely curious where it goes from here.

RT critics now at a 48%. Meanwhile Thor: The Dark World sits at 66%.

Really wish review websites would separate "fans of the genre" ratings out from the overall score. I'd like to see how critics that enjoy comicbook movies differ from other critics. Same with horror movies, if a critic hates horror movies, I don't particularly care for their review. Anytime I read a critic's review of a marvel movie and they make it clear they are tired of the MCU, quit reading... their review doesn't matter to me.

Thor Dark World really should be rated lower. By far the worst MCU film to date.

I’ve heard some critics reviews who love the MCU and just think this movie is a mess.

It's notable that it is pretty much the same critic mix for every MCU movies, meaning the same amount of tired of the MCU critics rate most the other MCU over 80% as those who rate Eternals under 50%. The biggest metric out there to gauge discrepancies is audience vs critic scores, especially now that only verified audience reviews count.

Wife and I just watched it and we liked it. World building is definitely the best description and I agree this probably should’ve been two movies. Either way, we left with more questions than answers which is expected as they set up this phase.

Looking forward to Hawkeye next

Its more just about how it is framed on your TV. As you can see from the picture above, it will make everything taller and you will be able to see more picture on top and bottom.
