Good lord! I wish I had that kind of time for something inanely pointless as those dudes did. Alas, I will just have to spend what time I do have free to discuss movies on the internet.

Off to Eternals tonight. We'll see if the anti-hype is true. I'm pretty forgiving for a lot of these movies though as long as I'm entertained. Thor 2 is still the biggest turd of the bunch, but even it has grown on me over the years. I just can't see any movie being that bad.

It may not be able to be as bad as Thor 2, but I could see it being way more controversial. As Star Wars knows, controversial can have a way worse net effect than just bad. Thor 2 is just bad.

I've actually heard some very good reviews from some people who are hardcore into the MCU. My 9 year old wants to see it so we'll see what I can get done there. I never know what to think with this stuff anymore.

I just have a hard time trying to figure out how they could make this stuff truly controversial. Aside from a bunch of neckbeards getting mad that there are PoC and gay characters in it, it's not like they are revising world history to fit some agenda. It's story about fictional characters fighting monsters.

The biggest part of the Star Wars controversy for me was they set out to do a trilogy, but didn't have coherent road map or didn't make the second film adhere to that road map and had to make the third film course correct all of it leading to a giant mess. Everything else was just people getting pissy about perceived agendas and such.

My 12 yo is going with me, so I can give his impression on it, too.

Anyone planning on seeing Eternals tonight? Unusual for me, I'm likely not to see it until next Tuesday probably. Also unusual for me, I'm not even that disappointed. Everything about this movie so far has just kind of sucked every last ounce of excitement out of things for me. At this point, its just about seeing it for myself and maybe it will change my mind.

7 pm tonight

The number of MCU movies (I've seen them all) that I think are actually good I can count on one hand. I just think they're all the same, formulaic ho hum action movies. But I've been looking forward to this one for a while and will be shocked if it's not my personal favorite of the entire MCU cannon.

Been working my way through a timeline re-watch on all the MCU movies and TV Shows (only Marvel Studios ones) and I figured I'd post a few quick observations so far. Keep in mind that I've at least seen every MCU movie twice prior to this re-watch.

Captain America: The First Avenger - Like it always has for me, the first half of that movie is maybe my favorite first half, especially origin-wise of any MCU movie out there. It truly gives you the feels and is what establishes Captain America's character as a fan favorite from the get-go. As for the second half, its mostly just decent and always will be what keeps this movie from being one of the overall best MCU movies out there.

Captain Marvel - This has always been a bottom-tier MCU movie for me with a mediocre story and what I consider a pretty poor performance from Brie Larson. HOWEVER, I will say that I have enjoyed the overall story a bit more and more with every re-watch, so this third go-around for this movie was my favorite. It's still probably a bottom-third MCU movie, but at least it is slowly rising.

Iron Man - This movie still holds up for me about as well as it always has. Is it my favorite MCU movie? No, but it will likely always be a top-tier MCU movie. Man, watching both Iron Man and Iron Man 2 really made me miss the days of all the mechanical and practical suits. I've always just thought seeing that Hall of Armor and all the different suits was just so cool, especially with how all the different versions install onto Tony. I get it, but I've just never been the biggest fan of all the purely CGI nano-tech suits.

Iron Man 2 - Screw everyone, I still really like this movie probably more than most out there. Is it pretty formulaic, does too much setup of future movies, and not make sense at times? Sure, but that doesn't mean it isn't still a ton of fun to watch with a bunch of cool visuals and scenes. Love seeing how Shield and Black Widow jump into the mix in this movie. The Iron Man suits are at some of their finest in this movie too.

Thor - Just a decently solid movie throughout that does a good-enough job of setting up the character. For someone who is such a galaxy-expanding character, this movie has always felt so unusually lower-budget and small-scale to me, probably because it somewhat was. I'm even talking about how small the world of Asgard feels in the movie. Anyway, this movie is and probably always will be a bottom-third tier movie for me, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy it for what it is. Love the introduction of Hawkeye in the movie.

The Incredible Hulk - This is one of those MCU movies that I keep thinking I'm going to like more after every re-watch, but for some reason, I just don't. In fact, I probably liked it a little less with this latest re-watch. It's fine, but I think this movie will always be hindered both by me never really loving Edward Norton in the role and me not liking the initial design of the Hulk character. Good to see they fixed both in later installments. The story is good-enough for me to be glad it is still a part of the MCU, but it will always probably be towards the end of my MCU rankings list. Also, due to the recast and redesign, this movie will likely always be one of those afterthought MCU movies, which is fine.

Anyway, I hope at least of few of you appreciate this update. I'll maybe try to give some new updates like this one periodically throughout my whole re-watch. I am really enjoying this whole re-watch process, especially since I've acquired 4K UHD discs now for all the MCU movies. Therefore, for many of these movies, this is my first time watching them in all their 4K UHD HDR glory, which is pretty spectacular.

I've continued on my MCU re-watch with some new updated thoughts on my more recent ones for anyone interested

The Avengers - While some of the earlier visuals and costumes have not aged as well as some other movies, this has and continues to be one of my all-time favorites. Every single thing in that last battle is everything I've wanted from an Avengers movie since I was a child, whether it be the tracking shot, the Hulk smash, the big battle in the middle of NYC, or just the overall crossover teamwork that goes on. Its still my favorite Avengers movie.

Iron Man 3 - The somewhat make or break for this movie still somewhat comes down to the big villain twist and whether that works for you or not. I'll still always call this movie more a Shane Black movie than an MCU movie. Regardless, there is still a lot to love in this movie, most particularly seeing all the different Iron Man suits in action. Like Iron Man 2, watching this movie makes me miss the old days of the mechanical suits and the Hall of Armor. The gold-colored Mark 42 (prodigal son returns) was and still is my favorite all-time suit. So so cool.

Thor: The Dark World - Was my least favorite MCU movie going in and continues to be afterward. For those who criticize MCU movies for being generic cookie-cutter superhero movies, I present you Thor: The Dark World. Plays right into your hands. A terrible cookie-cutter forgettable villain didn't help the cause either. There is still a few things to like about this movie, most particularly whenever Loki is on the screen, but otherwise, this movie deserves most all the criticism it receives.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Was #1 on my all-time favorite MCU movie list going in and it still held up. Man, this movie is a ton of fun with some of the best action in all the MCU. Love the political thriller turn this thing takes with the Captain America character and this movie also has probably the best writing of any MCU movie. I still credit this movie for taking me from really liking Steve Rogers as a character to him being my all-time favorite MCU character. I don't believe I'm alone in that.

I've got a few more I've already finished (currently on Ant-Man), but I figured I'll partition these out a bit. Anyway, hope a few of you can appreciate my revisit, but if I'm honest, I do pretty much all my reviews more so for myself. It gives me an avenue, almost like a journal to gather my thoughts within. If anybody else reads them, great.

This article is guessing Eternals will be on Disney+ Dec 19 which is the same amount of time between Shang-Chi theatrical and Disney+ release (50 days). My guess is that it drops Dec 25, which is a Saturday so Disney+ could rule the weekend and then end the year on a high-note with the Book of Boba Fett premier on Dec 29.

I've said it a ton of times, but MCU movies are basically the modern western. Some of them are great, but if you're a fan of the genre you're going to pretty much like them all. My dad can turn on TCM and watch any western no matter how dumb I think they are. I can pretty much do that with the MCU.

Leaving in about an hour to grab supper and be in our seats at the Davenport IMAX. Hoping that its more forgettable than out right terrible. Critics don't know everything, it may pleasantly surprise. Remember they raved about The Last Jedi and despised the first Transformers.

Good takes all-around.
Avengers is just as fun today as it was when I first saw it. The only thing I dislike is the hive-mind bad guy.
IronMan3 is better after Shang Chi and All Hail The King (short on Disney+).
TheDarkWorld is watchable, but just an all around forgettable movie. Exactly what marvel needs to stay away from with sequels.
Winter Soldier is a fantastic movie. While in my top 10 MCU, no where near #1. It has a huge part of the fan base that ranks it #1 and I totally understand why.

I hope they never stop making these movies. I could be 90 years old and still love it, just like our dads will watch westerns. So glad that started giving new heroes the limelight. DC needs a few lesson on how to not recycle through Batman and Superman again and again and again... Yes I'm going to watch the new Batman when it comes out.

All Hail the King is also included as an extra with Thor: TDW. That was one of the Blu-rays that I picked up way after the fact, so I totally never watched that one-shot like I did with all the others. I saw it on Disney+ and watched it a few days before seeing Shang-chi. I almost wished I hadn't to keep the surprise.

Spoiler free Eternals review.

It's big. Real big. Sets up some even bigger things. Lots of world building. May get a bit boring for some younger viewers. My 12yo enjoyed it fine, but would have enjoyed it more had the guy next to him not talked so much during the film.

I have no effing idea what people that gave this a bad review want. Hands down the best MCU movie and it’s not even close.

Yeah I've heard some people say it's one of the best MCU movies and it's awesome. I also get the impression that it's going to be for some people and some people won't like it as much. It's intriguing to say the least.

Solid middle to upper-middle tier MCU movie. I enjoyed it. Gave it a 7.5. I think the casting was pretty good as well with the exception of some dialogue they had. Like others have said lots of world building so its a little slower. I like where it is setting up to go and i enjoyed the two post credit scenes. Very interesting.

How do you add the spoiler link? want to get some opinions on a scene.

I'd say just below average MCU film. All films introducing an entire team suffer from doing too much. Avengers worked because it didn't need world building. This one had to build and give every character their time. I won't go into other reasons I did and didn't like it.
