Reviews for this film have been fun. They're very careful to avoid spoilers.
It's gonna be good, real good.
I honestly couldn't care less about the rotten tomatoes score. IMO it's a trash metric because like most things on the internet now, the only people voting are people that loved it or hated it, and it's susceptible to things like dorks going crazy over their Space Jesus in Luke Skywalker not living up to a perceived ideal.
Cinemascore ratings, a true survey, typically are a lot closer to critic reviews. Black Panther Cinemascore was A+. Last Jedi Cinemascore was an A. These are much more closely aligned to critic reviews.
I really want to believe that and tend to believe that, but after the reviews for Last Jedi and even Black Panther to some extent, I'm a bit gun shy right now. The Last Jedi was one where I walked away very much disappointed after reading raving reviews, whereas Black Panther was to a much lesser extent, where the reviews raved about the movie like it was the best thing ever, yet I just found it to be good and somewhat overrated. Shoot, the same thing went for Thor: Ragnarok with me, so that means I've had some disparity on the last 3 movies which have been released. That makes a bit of a trend, at least with me personally. Therefore, maybe it is a good thing there is a few mixed things in these reviews. Who knows. I do have a lot of faith in the Russo Bros, so that helps a ton.
I have heard they did some things in this movie that were very last jedi-ish. I don't know the details of what they mean because I don't want to be spoiled but there is a spec of concern. I have my tickets for saturday but considering going on Thursday night to avoid getting spoiled beforehand.
The comments in the reviews were the only part I care about.
They indicate that there are good character moments for a large # of characters in this film. Thanos comes off as credible and deep. There is apparently a huge moment that leaves the theater in shock.
I don't worry about the comparisons because it's time I won't spend. I just have things I look for and those are present, and all without spoilers.
Some reviewers struggled with the # of locales and stories going on. I'm going to assume those reviewers didn't read a lot of comics, and they've indicated that themselves, so no issue there.
I didn't see the Last Jedi, so I have no idea. They've lost my interest over there.

TLJ ruined the franchise for me. I'm all about suspension of disbelief. We're talking about space travel and laser fights and hyperspace, so I can accept a lot of things. But I just don't like human behavior that doesn't hold up. Too many characters made crazy/stupid/uncharacteristic decisions in that movie, and I only accept that from scary movies. Also, I've got no problem with political statements in movies. Lots of movies are political. But good God, I appreciate a bit of subtlety. I don't want to get hit over the head with the message.
I disliked TFA enough that I didn't bother to get excited for this last one.
Saw a huge blue "A" logo straddling Hollywood Blvd yesterday in front of the Chinese theater driving to work. Surprised I can't find an image on the web, pretty huge installation.
I'm so far behind on the MCU. I'm probably not going to see Infinity War for a while and I'm sure a lot will be spoiled.
Sucks, but I just can't keep up with movies without the ability to go to the theater very often. Stupid babies taking up all my time.
