Lipsey Shoutout

Hunter is not going to be AA. Do you think he can keep up his current pace, 56% FG, 39% 3 pts, and 93% from FT? This is not a sour grape. I never thought he was a good PG. He is a shooting guard in a PG body. He is more like Lindell Wigginton but a much better defender and much worse shooter.
At risk of turning this into a Hunter thread, you know that he's capable of improvement as a shooter, right? Not saying he'll quite keep up that efficiency, but it seems absolutely possible that he identified shooting as the biggest weakness of his game and worked hard to fix it.

I'm very thankful for Tamin. I think he is already a very good player and has the potential to be a great one. But let's not pretend like we wouldn't love to have Hunter on the team right now.

He will improve but not enough to make him a good/great shooter. Do you think he will shoot over 45% this season?

Lipsey has really impressed me this year. It is difficult to be thrust into a starting PG role. But he is very steady, plays good defense and is learning when to pick his spots to score. I thought it would take a year for him to really contribute but he seems to improving each week. Both him and Watson look like really good gets. Watson to me looks like a kid that if he can develop a consistent outside shot he has a shot at a pro career because he could be a 3 and D guy.

I think it's possible. The fact that his efficiency has improved from every part of the court makes me tend to believe that it's not just luck. We're obviously still in small sample sizes, but also it's not like he has one great game just distorting all of his numbers. And with how hard he works, I have a tough time putting a ceiling on his improvement.

Imagine the numbers he’d have with some capable scorers around him. Last night alone there were more blown assists than I could count.

The Tamin/Jerimiah Williams point guard platoon surrounded by Milan and Omaha will be fun. Grill would be welcomed back for another year but another shooting/scoring guard out of the portal is likely Priority A this Spring.

He has good form. He is a really good FT shooter at almost 90%. I think he can turn himself into a good 3pt shooter with work. If he puts in the time he will get better. I think he will shoot over 45% this year because he does a good job of not forcing anything and playing within himself.

No, he does not have good form. He might shoot a little better this year due to taking better shots due better players around him.

Honestly I'm not sure what direction we go with transfers next season. Obviously we know nothing at this point what next season will hold, who will stay, honor their covid year, transfer, etc. But looking at our potential lineup next year it should be pretty good:

Lipsey/Williams
Grill/Eli/Hamilton
Omaha/Watson/Fish
Tre/Milan
Jones/Ward

Now there will be a need at the two but that will be hard to sell if Grill, a starter is coming back. I will say from what we've seen so far TJ isn't a dude that is going to promise the world and not deliver. If everyone stays I could either see us going for a combo guard that can shoot or another big to replace Osun. I think we are set at forward.

He may end up being but you are being disingenuous if you think you can already tell.
My opinion is based on what I have seen from Hunter last year. He is a good combo guard but not a good PG. He is playing a combo guard this year for Texas.
