Lipsey needs to be aggressive outside

This isn't exactly new information. I doubt that it took Big 12 coaches 20 games worth of film to find the "kryptonite" that he doesn't shoot 3s.

He wasn't a 3 point shooter in high school, not sure why anyone would have expected that to change in a major way by mid way through his freshman season. I imagine it will be something that will be worked on for many hours in the off season, if it's not already.
Just based upon previous players like Tyrus, Naz and Monte they put in the extra time to improve their shot. I would assume he probably is but I'm not sure considering the workload for freshmen can be daunting.

I just don't understand how guys like him and Jones get to that level and yet can't make a simple shot or be so bad that teams dare you to take a 10 foot jumper.

I know it's different during a game, but I've been on 2 Big 12 basketball courts and the hoop is not that far away at all. It looks much bigger on TV and for free throws it's even closer than it looks on TV.
lol bruh

You know what's worse than low percentage shots? Turnovers. Those tend to hover somewhere around *checks notes* 0.0%.
And we are a fantastic offensive rebounding team. Most of Tamin's shots are so bad I could only imagine a long rebound that leads to tip outs or other chaos. Literally anything but throwing the ball directly to the other team 10 possessions in a row.

He was injured several times in high school. Can’t remember if one of those was senior year, I think his junior year was the worse one for injury, but that could affect his development too.

It takes experience to stop a team from speeding you up, and Lipsey has been really overachieving in that regard up until lately. Makes the passes look baffling, and that’s the intent when you’re speeding someone up.
Almost everyone else had a bad turnover in there as well, really the killer were the open court turnovers where we can’t set our defense.

I thought he was injured his sophomore year? Played football his junior year and tore it up.

He has to look to shoot. Multiple possessions in a row in the 2nd half he would dribble below the free throw line and get stuck because he hasn’t looking to shoot

I don't mind if he misses. But he probably needs to occasionally shoot. It'll go in 20% of the time.

Not that any of us really care, but Hunter was 3 of 12 from 3pt range lastnight. Would we prefer that to Tamin not shooting? I get that its not apples-to-apples as Hunter has proven he can make them some nights whereas Tamin hasn't. Somthing has to change tho - that's the difference between the first half and the second half - ability of breaking the press and absolutely no spacing offensively becuase Tamin has been no threat from 8' and out. Jaz cannot come back soon enough to provide some much needed depth and calming influence.

Hopefully Jaz can be a bit of a release valve when teams pressure us. He’s a pretty crafty passer and has done it in the past for us. Might depend how good his hand is. Seems the injuries are finally catching up to us. Not having Williams seems pretty big atm.

I know this isn't a shocking comment, but we are seeing how big of a loss Williams is for this team. To have someone spell Lipsey when he is struggling or even take over in different sets/at different times could have turned a couple of those lapses around or stopped the bleeding.

Tamin has a huge upside, but having to do it all trial by fire is going to give us games like last night. Williams being available I think mitigates a lot of that.
It Will pay huge dividends next year and going forward... But definitely hurt this year. Still amazing what tj did after losing his starting pg... Not many coaches could have pulled an ncaa trny season off with that setback and this roster.

Lipsey should have been benched after his 3rd mistake. I just can’t comprehend how we can let people stay in the game when they’re constantly making mistakes. Obviously, he’s been a great player for us, but there’s no way in hell he should’ve been in the game after making so many mistakes. Why wasn’t he benched? I just don’t understand.

So you want no one left on the floor?

Well that's a good comparison.

Hunter last night: 13 points on 17 FG attempts (no FT) with two AST and 1 TO

Lipsey last night: 11 points on 6 FG attempts (3-4 FT) with 4 AST and 4 TO

While we can ask him to shoot more 3s, his points and assists netted 19 points on 16 possessions while Hunter's netted 17 points on 20 possessions.

He's a 20% 3pt shooter thus far, do you want 0.6 points per possession?
0.6 points per possession over the last 12 minutes probably would've gave us a comfortable double digit victory.

If teams are gonna let him shoot 3s that wide open, I have to believe he could hit around 33% to get us near 1 PPP. Combine that with our ability to get offensive rebounds and I think its a good strategy to shoot those.
