Really disappointed by some reactions here.
Think about the stances being made.
Why does anyone play these bowl games if they don’t mean anything?
TJ Tampa didn’t play. Ok. As far as I know, that was it. Did I miss someone else?

I enjoy the content too, and I don't gamble so that isn't at the root of my complaint. I just don't care for the revisionist history.
First of all the Notre Dame-Oregon State game was on at the exact same time. The ratings for that game will be much higher than our game.
Second of all, you're over-estimating how many people actually care about this game outside of Iowa and Western Tennessee. I don't even remember what bowls Texas and Oklahoma were in last year let alone some 7-5 type Big 12 teams.
It was a crap game, but this mentality that the whole world saw this and our program is going now the laughingstock of college football is ridiculous.
“Jeff Myers is in his first season as offensive line coach at Memphis in 2023. Head coach Ryan Silverfield announced the hiring of Myers on Jan. 8, 2023. Myers came to the Tigers after spending the last seven seasons at Iowa State, five as offensive line coach. In 2019, Myers was listed in 247Sports' "30Under30" as one of the top rising stars in the profession.
“We are very excited to hire Jeff Myers as our offensive line coach,” Silverfield said at the time of his hiring. “He will do a wonderful job relating to our players and maximizing their potential. Coach Myers’ passion and knowledge will be displayed for our OL and entire program.”
I guess I’d like to hear CMC expound on how two people he judged to be unworthy of our program could steal our lunch money the way Scates and Myers did this afternoon. C’mon man - Meyers lost two OL starters to the portal and still had his guys ready to bully ISU. Scates looked like the 4 star WR we recruited but were unable to assimilate into our vaunted culture.

I actually laughed hard at this, and I’ve been pissed off completely since 2:40 pm.
I respect what CW has built but I hope people don’t really take any actual game X and O’s from him and Blums podcasts. I doubt either had even made it to varsity level of athletics.
I think people are taking “meaningless” too literally. They are meaningless in the fact that it’s just a game in an isolated season in which you are not playing for a national championship (in the CFP). They are fun to win and the teams are trying to win when they are on the field. But the result of the game has zero bearing on the following season. I mean we lost to Rutgers and Tulsa in bowl games yet somehow have been just fine and made a Big 12 Championship years later. On the flip side we beat Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl and had the entire team back. Yet did nothing the next season.
For a school that really needs to change perceptions and build a brand for our football program, I really don't think we have the luxury of treating a game like a fun exhibition. Especially a game on ESPN when there is no other football on TV. That is a big opportunity for a program like ours. There were lots of viewers watching that game who probably hadn't seen us play all year.
I'm just tired of how many games we just write off under CMC. We suck every September but we excuse it as the coaches prepping for B12 play. We look unprepared for bowl games but it is okay because they are exhibitions. The season is 12 games plus a bowl. We have fans just accepting that our program half asses 4 of those. We pay millions a year to this staff and hand out 85 scholarships a year to football and are supposed to be okay that they blow off a third of their season each year?
Yes. An interim DC. Perfect 1st game for him. An extremely predictable offense. Most Iowa high school defensive coordinators could shut down ISU.
I dont know why I have to keep explaining this, but there was another game on this afternoon, with much better teams, larger fanbase, and on a larger network.
No the slow starts in September are an actual problem. That **** needs to get resolved because those are regular season games that count and can get you to higher rankings and more coverage. That actually leads to perception and recruiting, etc.
I'm confident we'll see a real change in Campbell's approach when he starts coaching again next October.
Gotcha--very fair. I also remember him pumping this one up big time. I really don't like dishonest content. If he really felt that way I wish he'd say it instead of the constant sunshine pumping.
There's only one solution for poor performance. Pay the players more!
The culture is good. The staff is good at getting effort
Without that we get boatraced once down 19 in a road game in the middle of winter

I don't even mind being optimistic, within reason. Just own it when you're wrong.
I saw the score 19-0 early in 2q, assumed they turned it over. Now I guess they must have just played really bad to start the game, that stinks
I don't remember hearing bowl games being referred to as exhibitions as much as I have on this board today. I always thought teams wanted to win them. Hmmm
If I expected anything out of ISU football other than 7 win seasons I would be upset. But I'm realistic. I mean, how many tens of thousands of dollars are you willing to pay out of your own pocket EVERY year to get Iowa State football to the consistant 8-10 win season level? We don't have enough gullible millionaires in our fanbase.
