Liberty Bowl postgame thread

It is a game that has all upside for the g5 team, and almost entirely downside for the p5 team, and on top of that the g5 gets to be at home.

What is the point of bowl games if this is what we get?

Yeah, I can understand that. I share your frustration there and agree.

When you voice your argument like this, I am totally on board. Why should we (or any other team) have to play another team (happens to be a G5 team) on their home field?

I don't like that either. It's a big advantage for the home team.
 
Let me say that I want MC here. Anyone that thinks getting rid of MC is a good idea are idiots. But if you think ISU can't get a good coach after MC leaves then you are idiots too.

Look at what Memphis did to us. That was a straight up out coaching job if I ever saw one.

There are good coaches out there. So we don't need to be beholden to a coach just because they had some successful seasons and we are lowly ISU. Expect better.

Listening to the postgame pod...CW: "When the bowl projection came out, I didn't like the matchup for Iowa State."

He hated the matchup so much he called for a double-digit win numerous times on his podcast.

Campbell always forgets how to coach when we don't look good. Suddenly he remembers how to coach when we play well.

I think he should get that looked at.

Running game horrible, Clanton should improve the line, home game atmosphere and Memphis seemed more jacked for the game. Basketball season should be fun!

Really, really dumb thing to say. IMHO, of course.

Everyone on planet earth knows how meaningless bowl games are. And its “meaning” (or lack thereof) has literally nothing to do with nor any relation to fan expectation. Getting stomped (and outplayed, and outcoached, etc) by a G5 team on national TV - the only football game on - is absolutely an embarrassing ‘thing’ to happen to our football program and our coaching staff.

And yes, it was embarrassing enough even just having to play a G5 team in their home stadium. That alone was a slap in the face. Getting dominated was a straight MK3 upper cut to the nuts.

Holy sh*t some of the mental mistakes and execution errors these guys made were some of the worst we’ve seen in the CMC era. Against f***ing Memphis.

And with this offensive line turd fest we see year after year after year, I firmly have no hope for a true “breakout” squad from a CMC program.

Can anyone answer me why we didn’t look to the sideline once to change the offensive play or direction like we always do after assessing the D? They run blitzed the entire game and we just kept running into it with no audible or change of direction. It actively felt like we weren’t trying 100%.

By now we know CMC is using satire. Or projection and trolling.

Details and winning the margins is the biggest thing holding his program back.

We’re also consistently mediocre at the details and the margins

On offense, let’s put it this way, P5 staffs aren’t coming to study what CMC is doing

ST were an issue many seasons

The basketball game is a regular season game that counts towards making the postseason, the bowl game is played a month after the regular season, where players sit out or transfer beforehand because it's an exhibition, and you get nothing competition-wise for winning.

I mean he’s right. If you somehow lose to New Hampshire your tournament chances take a massive hit come March. Winning or losing the Liberty Bowl is just winning or losing the Liberty Bowl. It’s been shown time and time again there is virtually zero correlation to how you do in your bowl game and the result of next season. I mean hell we know it firsthand after winning the Fiesta Bowl, getting a top-10 preseason ranking with the entire team back and then doing nothing with it.
