All I can say about this guy is WOW.

I just went over to cyclones.com and watched his post game press conference from last night. And I tell you this, if Fred left for the NBA after this season, Moton would be at the very top of my list of coaches I'd want JP to go get. Just an unbelievable guy, and a great head coach.

He took no moral victory from last night at all. I love that. And then he commented about how tough he is on his guys and what he expects out of them each and every day. He tells all of them, and his potential recruits too, that they shouldn't come play for him unless they want to be held accountable each and every day. I just love that.

And that embrace he had last night with his two players near the end was just tremendous IMO. It sounds like he is pretty tough on his guys, and in that moment he just wanted to show them how much he cared for everything they had done at NC Central. And finally, he commented about how great his players made him look as a coach all year long. He comments about how he didn't make a single shot, or get a single rebound, or dish out a single assist. His players did it all, and he took no credit for it whatsoever.

What a great head coach, and an even better guy! He looked crushed when informed about Niang's injury. He respected Niang a LOT.

Anyway, I just thought he deserved a special mention on here. If we ever lost Fred to the NBA, I'd love to have this guy as our next head coach.
 
I definitely second this. Seems like a class act and a strong head coach. He won't be in the MEAC for long.
 
I agree that everything I've heard and read about the man is very impressive. Seems like he's much more concerned about impacting lives than basketball careers. He's got a very bright future whether he chooses to stay there or move on.
 
Yep. Everything I've heard about him, seen from him, and heard from him points to this. The guy is a great coach and also a great role model. I was actually thinking during the game last night about how if we had an assistant coach vacancy, we should jump all over this guy for it. Not sure that would happen - he seems pretty invested in NCCU after having played there for four years, be one of the their greatest players (if not THE greatest player they ever had) only to return to be a coach. In a way he's kind of like Hoiberg.

You can tell he's a great person for sure and any team would be lucky to have him just from a personal development standpoint alone in any capacity IMO. Complete class act of a guy and I'll always root for him. I think his team could have also upset many other teams in the tournament too as they were legitimately pretty good for a MEAC team.

The moment last night with the players embracing was very touching.

You can see his impact on his players as they were crying with each other and he's hugging them.

Absolutely love the guy. Not necessarily sure I'd want him at the top of my coaching search, but class act and great coach.
 
Got some dust from the ceiling fan in my eye right around the time he took his seniors to the side towards the end of the game.

Keep meaning to dust that fan.....
 
Very impressive young coach. I was impressed with their moxie at the end of the first half last night after our 8-0 run to keep it a game.

I hope his young son will be okay. That's a tough story.

Unfortunately I don't think he will be available IF or WHEN Hoiberg goes to the NBA. I think some smart AD at a big time college will snap him up.
 
Very impressed with his team last night. Played with great effort and precision. ISU shot the lights out, thankfully.

I was kind of worried when ISU missed some easy point blank shots early, but things started to fall. Also, pretty easy to shoot high percentage when making layups on fastbreaks. I was really happy to see ISU turn turnovers and defensive rebounds into layups.
 
No way would he last at this level now a days. He's too hard on his players and he wouldn't be able to recruit Big 12 players. Plus the slow it down/tough d style wouldn't help him recruit either. He belongs at a level above NCCU and below ISU.
 
Not sure why we are giving all these props to a coach and team that we just gave a massive beat down. It is not like it was a close game and we hung 93 on them. If Fred leaves, I hope we set our sites higher than Motown.
 
I was getting tired of the constant coverage of him and the announcer slobbering, but that isn't his fault.
