Kansas State Fan Here!

Iowa State would do the same if you guys were Futility U! like we were back in the days.

I don't know. It's one thing if your beating someone like neb. or col. back in the day. We were not that great back then, so it always seemed the same as hayden fry running up the score. That aside, I'm glad to have someone who's up at this time of night to talk to. Tell me what K-State people think about the new Big 12.

We were definitely Futility U for most of the 80's and 90's. Just another reason I think there's a natural kinship between the two Universities.

Athletically maybe although I think you could argue ISU has had alot more success than KSU when you look at all sports (non-revenue as well).

To say KSU compares to ISU academically is an extreme insult. I realize you are not saying that, but ISU is leaps and bounds ahead of KSU as an institution of higher learning.

I'm well aware of that.

mildcats cheated almost as much as knubbie in their hayday. no respect for them at all.

I lived in Kansas for years and made it to Manhattan and KSU a couple times. Great small town, nice campus - very comparable to ISU.

I think the whole "hard to recruit" thing comes from Manhattan not being anywhere close to anything urban. Junction City? Salina? Uh, nice try. Topeka is the closest city and is still 90 minutes away -- and Topeka is not exactly a hoppin' town either.

Ames on the other hand is only a half hour away from Des Moines, which really does have a lot going on these days.

But give KSU credit, they've done a lot with what they have, we'd kill for the kind of success they've had in football and more recently b-ball.

That was kind of my point. They've positioned themselves really well, all things considered.

I didn't want to give off any impression of disrespect for KSU, as I respect what they've been able to pull off.

I like how they play off our 20-some good years of basketball as nothing with their 3 years of above-average ball capitalized with 3 mid-major opponent victories in the NCAA tourny.

BYU and Xavier called they said Pittsburg and Florida sucked. Probably why we had to play BYU and Xavier..jfc

it took bill snyder, from the time he came to k-state in... 89 i believe... until 2003 before he was able to win a conference championship.

that sucks... for a team like iowa state for example.

they were 11-0 even in 1998 and still didn't go to the BCS. It goes to show you how tough it is to win a championship in the big 12. Iowa state and CPR have a long journey in front of them. So, for me at least, it helps to keep expectations in check. --A great coach still needs time to take a team like iowa state and turn them into a true program.

So these next 2 years: are going to be tough. 2010 and 2011 schedules are brutal. We may not take steps forward- and that sucks for all of us. But, good things may still be ahead for us cyclone fans.

Umm....buddy? I'd check your population statistics again about the size difference between Ames and Manhattan.

Manhattan, Kansas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ames, Iowa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, WTF is Ankeny? And LOL at people caring about Des Moines being nearby. What are you gonna do in Des Moines? Besides visit the capitol and buy Heee-Haw at the Hy-Vee mothership store, of course.

I'm pretty sure Des Moines has a lot more to offer than nearby places to Manhattan... Not trying to pimp Des Moines too much but it's one of better places to do business in the US and is very white collar, on top of that it has a pretty awesome nightlife for a city of it's size. Its skyline is also pretty impressive for a city of only 500,000. It destroys Witchita and there isn't even a building taller in KC that is taller than Des Moines' tallest. And sorry, apparently it was the 2000 census where I got my information, Manhattan has grown a lot in 10 years apparently, it was in the lower 40,000s in 2000.

Des Moines, Iowa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia... way better than anything Kansas can offer (KC is primarily in Missouri, doesn't count)

List of tallest buildings by U.S. state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia... backing up my tallest building comment haha

As winters said, BYU and Xavier were both better than most BCS teams. BYU beat Florida in the 1st round and was ranked for most of the year. Xavier has made to the Sweet 16 for 3 straight years now, I believe. They also beat Pitt, who is a Big East team , to make it to the Sweet 16 against us. Also Haver, we have well over 3 years of above average bball. KSU has one of the top 25 bball programs of all time.

I was with you right up until that last sentence. That last sentence is nuts.

I agree with your point, but Florida hardly even deserved to make the tourney.

I root for KSU to do well in most games. The only ill-will I have against them is that Snyder used to continually poach McCarney's recruits. That doesn't happen as much these days, but KSU doesn't have the pull that they did in Snyder's heyday.

They were good back in the 50's through the 70's.

In the history of the Big 12, ISU has 2 conference BB Championships and KSU has 0.

Conference Championships in Big 12 for BB (Season only/not counting tournament)
1. Kansas (10--- 3 Shared)
2. Texas (3--- 2 shared)
3. Iowa State (2)
4. Oklahoma State (1)
5. Oklahoma (1 shared)

Teams Without Championship:
Baylor
Kansas State
Texas A&M
Colorado
Nebraska
Texas Tech

Titles per University:
North Division
Colorado 27
Iowa State 11
Kansas 22
Kansas State 7
Missouri 6
Nebraska 68

South Division
Baylor 36
Oklahoma 38
Oklahoma State 35
Texas 106
Texas A&M 44
Texas Tech 10

Current standing in Director's Cup:
ISU: 34
KSU: 123

Anyway, I have no hard feelings for KSU and hope they can finish second in the North for football behind ISU.

Nice stats.

Also, what do K-Staters think about the Farmageddon Game? I really think we should be playing for some kind of trophy since this is a good rivalry game in the B12. There has been talk about an old school tractor to be brought to the game with the winning team keeping it for the year. Could be sweet. What say you K-State? Let's face it, ISU and K-State could use some cool publicity....and this "Farmageddon" game and trophy could get us some more. (The two ag-schools...etc...)
