Good luck this season Iowa State. Paul Rhoads is a great coach and I believe he will lead your squad into the right direction. Rhoads reminds me of Snyder when he first arrived at K-State.

I like the Iowa State Kansas State rivalry...make sense. And ISU, KSU and KU are three schools with honor. Mizzou doesn't fit that moniker.

When people say it can never happen at ISU, I always like to use the success that Snyder had at K-State as an example that anything can happen anywhere with the right people in place.

Thanks for the well wishes, and good luck to you...except when we come down to KC for revenge.

I agree with this big time. Even though I/ and many others like to poke fun and Snyder from time to time (mostly cup cake schedules) you still gotta respect what he did and where he did it.

I think that ISU, KSU, and KU will really need to stick together as a family over the next several years. We may be rivals on the field and court, but off of it we desperately need to stay together.

We are the only 3 schools that showed loyalty to the Big 12 over the last year. That means a lot.

As with all of our old Big 8 brothers; I hope KSU's wins the final conference game vs. the turNcoats.

Never understood K-State hate. I hate Snyder, but I respect the hell out of him. He built a borderline dynasty at a place that's even harder to recruit to than Ames. I hate how he used to tun the score up on us, but you can make a case that he's the best college coach of all time.

But K-State is so similar a University to ISU that I can't bag on 'em. The folks in Manhattan are pretty friendly and like to party, so I can't complain.

Good luck this season, too.

I expect ISU & KSU to battle for third in the North. So I can only wish you a certain degree of success. :wink:

Not that you asked, but I have KSU’s season going this way:

UCLA L
Missouri State W
v. ISU L
UCF W
Nebraska L
@KU W
@ Baylor W
Okla State L
Texas L
@Missouri L
@ Colorado W
@UNT W
6-6 (3-5)

I hope I’m right on at least one of those L’s :yes:

This is why I'd like to see Farmageddon be a trophy game. We need to make as many lasting connections as possible with the other 3 North teams. Anything to try and keep the turnicate on this conference is huge for ISU.

And if the B12 dissolves at some point, the 4 north teams as a package look a hell of lot better than ISU by themselves. I'm looking at you, Big East.

How is Manhattan a harder place to recruit to than Ames? WTF?

Anyways, this is your last year to win the North ISU. C'mon 'clones!

I respect that KState for winning all those games and becoming a great team a decade ago but I don't respect the way they did it. There wasn't a lot of mercy for opponents in those days and I think it burned a lot of teams. I hated Osbourne but Snyder wasn't too far behind him.

I went to Manhattan two years ago (The last stand at ISU of the Chiz) and really enjoyed my weekend there. Aggieville was a cool place to hang out and I really liked their bowled in end zone (made me wish even more that JTS had one).

That said...I hope we kick your *** this year :wink:

No offense, but Manhattan is out in the middle of nowhere even more so than Ames. And your athletic marketing campaign is stuck in the mid-90's.

But hey...that's how it just is.

It's a fine town, but it has way more of a rural feel. There's an elevator down the road from the stadium, and they graze livestock across the road from it.

It's farther from civilization, too. Manhattan/KSU is pretty similar to Ames/ISU, but it's definitely a little more redneck.

I'd personally find it a fun town, just like I think Ames is a fun town, but when you look at things that the outside world holds against a place, Manhattan has a few (not a lot) more strikes against it.

Even though we are stuck out in the middle of nowhere, there's still quite a good chunk of good things in Manhattan. It's not like there's only 5,000 people here. We got all the good things most college towns have. And I think recruits find Manhattan a great place to be.
