NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

This is a nightmare really. All gun violence is.

I used to have a recurring dream, thankfully not in a long time, that I kept being picked up by police for forgetting that I had a loaded gun or rifle that I would take with me to town, shopping. It was totally benevolent but I couldn't remember that it was against the law to carry a loaded weapon in your car, or on your person, unless you had a permit. In my dream I never did (have a permit/license). And I always got caught.

In this case, they not only carried out this dream in real life but used the weapons to kill randomly. Insane.

No problem anymore with the permit.

Gun laws in Missouri:
No background checks for private sales.
No permit required for concealed carry.
No permit required for open carry.
No license required for owners.
No firearm registration.
No assault weapon law.
No magazine capacity restriction.

Crazy isn't it. As far a MO goes, some of the above is true, some - I don't know. I'm not wanting to get into a debate with anyone. I am for more gun legislation, not less.

On the other hand, I am a law abiding citizen with reasonable thought processes. One side not listening to the other, and both sides of the aisle are doing this now, is not great.

This is why I like sports.

Edit: for clarity

And a state government that doesn’t allow the cities to make their own regulations or policing strategies to combat gun violence.

All is true, so no need for a debate.

If you say so. But I think you are oversimplifying the existing laws. And you are making a blanket statement which I'm not sure is entirely correct. I'm no expert, but need to learn more.

Not to say I'm not for further gun legislation, I am. I think it is important to get factual before debating what needs to change, stay the same, or whatever. It's crazy though. I admit, I do not know all the facts. MO seems to be a good place to start some needed change.

I did some checking, and a little reading, regarding MO gun laws:
This is interesting, not in a great way:

I nominate @deadeyededric to start a new KC Chiefs thread, but only if it includes "this team is a dumpster fire." somewhere.:D

Has brought us much luck since that post.

Not trying to diminish the tragedy of yesterday, but this thread is spiraling to the cave and I would like to discuss Chiefs offseason moves without wading through this stuff.

If Patrick can restructure his contract, and maybe not take as much as he deserves as well (below the current QB going rate), they could have some cap room to continue to sign good players.

I think Brady did this. The Patriots also let aging stars go, signed younger players, and drafted well.

I mean, how many millions of dollars do you need? I'm not saying Patrick will come down too much because he wants to be paid too, and deserves it. But he also knows it is a team game. And he likes winning championships. I think wants to set his legacy pretty high.

Mahomes is still going to get paid, they are just paying him less now and pushing that payment down the road. Sooner or later the cap hit of his contract is going to come due, it's not a matter of "if" but when.

That's kind of what I thought too, with the word 'restructure'. But you never really know how they restructure it.

I mean, he could give a portion of his salary to the Kansas City Chiefs Benevolent society, as far as I know.

I wonder if some of the 'restructuring' is coming to roost in New England? Are they in some way still paying Tom Brady?

No.
