NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

So other than Rice and maybe Sky Moore will it be a whole new WR group next season? Guessing some veteran WR's that still have some game left would take a bit of a discount to play with Mahomes and have a legit shot to win a ring.

Biggest issue is what to do with Jones. Big hole to fill if he leaves.

When will players learn to come to KC, not leave.

Tyreek, paid, but missed out on two rings.
DeAndre Hopkins picked Tennessee in free agency??
What did JuJu do in NE this year??
Orlando Brown got less money from the Bengals to leave instead of stay!
Mecole leaves and can't even make the Jets, comes back to score a SB winning TD.
What did Sammy Watkins do after leaving KC?

I hope we go after Calvin Ridley, Tee Higgins, Hollywood Brown, someone like that.

But yes, it will be a whole new WR room. Toney is gone. MVS is probably a cap casualty, Skyy might even be traded.

I think Chiefs go w/ Jones over Sneed after last night. I was completely opposed to and thought the opposite would be true... but changed my mind last night. I'm okay letting Sneed walk.

Need a WR, tackle, backup LB, and maybe TE/RB.

And next year it gets significantly worse unless they play more cap games. His cap hit is estimated to be almost 24% in 2024. Drafting and development has to continue to be spot on, because they can't keep kicking the can down the road forever.
But you have to keep doing the bolded if you want to expand your window to win super bowls. You have Mahomes under contract they said last night for 8 more seasons, that should be your window to keep pushing the cap back until his contract is up or close to it.
The reason the Pats could last for such a long time was they kept Brady, and then replaced everyone else around him as they aged and got expensive. We cannot keep Jones unless he changes his mind and settles for less, which he will not do. So, you let him walk and then go after a quality player that is cheaper and wants to win a SB. Drafting well and developing players is just a given if you want to continue to win.

Agreed, the window to win is NOW and you have possibly the GOAT as your QB to go with one of the best TE to ever play in Kelce and a HOF coach in Reid. You will mortgage the long term to win in the short term as you never know how long this dynasty ride will last. So far they have done a good job drafting and replacing players when they become too expensive. If you think this year's free agency will be challenging 2025 could be another one as 2 of your best OL in Humphrey and Smith will be UFA, Omenihu, Bolton, and Reid on the defense and one of the best kickers in the league Butker all hit the market too. You do what you can this year to get back to the Super Bowl in 2025 and probably will have to kick the can down the road some more to keep as many guys as you can next offseason as well.

The Taylor contract really hurts but the dead cap hits after next season go down from 34 Mil in 2024 to 9.45 mil in 2025 and 4.7 in 2026 if they want to use him to clear some space. Hopefully he works on some things in the offseason and comes back a better player where he doesn't look like such a bad move as he did earlier this season when he killed so many drives with dumb penalties or bad play.

Veach/Mahomes will work something out that benefits everyone. Whether that is enough to keep CJ, idk.

Resigning Sneed is #1 IMO. Think you let Gay walk, resign Tranquill for cheaper. If you can get it done with Chris Jones you do it. He said in post game he told Veach to bring him back, but it has to make sense and Jones has shown he will hold out for top dollar.
My guess is CJ and his agents learned from the holdout. They may not demand top dollar this time around, but who knows…?

Watson is under contract.

Yep. Odds per DVOA were 2.4% of a team winning all 4 games. The Giants of '07 had a 2.44% chance with the teams they faced.

Congrats Chiefs fans - you are now that one fan base that you all hated for 20+ years. And while I don't inherently have an issue with the Taylor Swift stuff... it doesn't exactly make you all any more likable, either.

I hope this makes you feel better?
Glad you don't have a problem with Taylor Swift but then admit you kind of do.
