JTS construction webcam?

And now the arrow should probably go back to the beginning and upgrade hilton videoboard (and ceiling\lighting)

It is truly incredible all that has been done in the past 10 years. What happened in the 10 years prior to that? All I can think of is the football practice facility and the extremely undersized pressbox. We had some successful teams in football and basketball but too bad the AD didn't do anything to sustain it. Thanks Bruce.

I blame George Bush......:jimlad:

We had terrible management with president's and AD's like Van De Velde and Jischke. JP certainly knows how to manage a project and use the money wisely. Just look at that chart as compared to OU's half billion dollar football stadium rehab?

I read about the remodeling to kinnick. Sounds to me like they are in catch up mode on the stadium. Almost everything listed was something isu already had done.

The new dorm would be a new addition though. I wonder if any general fund money would be used for the dorm. Projects get a lot easier when the state subsidizes their programs for millions more than isu gets.

I don`t believe so.

Donations and dorm revenue bonds to finance it. Same as what we would do. And I wouldn't consider them playing catch up to us re: Stadium. They have the pressbox and south ez already done. We would need to bowl in the NEZ and build a new pressbox to catch up to them. Not to mention athletic dorms, although Fredrickson Court already serves that purpose for freshman/sophs.

The only thing trice lacks is size. You may want to read about the improvement they are making. All have been done at isu.

restrooms (we did this)
video displays (we did this)
Updating old bleachers from 1980 ( not needed at trice)
Areas to congregate ( we did this)
suites (we did this)

WE HAVE A PRESS BOX!

It amazes me how many dont understand this. Their "press box" is mostly suites that isu already has between decks.

You guys missed the point. I'm sure they won't use general fund money. Unfortunately isu was scraping by for decades and the u of I has been subsidized in their general funds by the state.

see regents proposal... don't ever listen to another hawk talk about funding.

Their number of suites, number of sideline club seats, and increased press space, in addition to general aesthetic appeal of having a north endzone bowled in are things I eventually want in Jack Trice as well.... and no, I'm not a Hawk fan, plenty of schools have north endzones and far more suites and club seats than Iowa State.

I did read their proposals. You are spinning quite a bit. They have a lot more suites than we do. Our pressbox is small regardless of where our suites are located. And I don't know how I missed the point when you clearly typed: I wonder if any general fund money would be used for the dorm. The answer is no, and whatever happened in the past has nothing to do with this project.

If you know this, please list the number of suites they have compared to isu. I would like to see this information. I assume you will be counting areas between levels and some of the endzone seats for trice.

What I never want at trice...

their ugly disjointed bleachers.
their straight sidelines
their water tower
their parking (lack of it)
Their lack of the things listed above...
their lack of ribbon board except endzone
Their lack of a grass field
their gaps between bleachers ( not bowled)

I could go on. The point is that we have many things they do not. I can do this all day and I'm a Cyclone fan.

I got a real hard laugh out of that one. I wish I could collect millions each year that I don't deserve and then have someone say that really didn't matter later.

That's good stuff right there.

I agree with you that we have a lot of great things, but gaps between bleachers at Kinnick are no different than hillside gaps between the Jacobson Building and the student section, or Jacobson Building and the west side stands as well.

My barometer for sports facilities is honestly not Kinnick Stadium, but I will forever ask "what's the next big thing" when it comes to our facilities, because every other school is asking the exact same question.

Items like athletic dorms (with nice amenities) have been built at Kansas and Oklahoma for student athletes, which is a huge recruiting tool. Frederiksen Ct doesn't cut it compared to these residential facilities.

This isn't really athletic in terms of original purpose, but having a hotel and increased convention center space (which was voted down by the City of Ames) at Scheman, next to Hilton, would have had a benefit for athletics, because hundreds of fans could be staying within a few blocks of the stadium, instead of needing to find gameday transportation. The convention space could have been used for a "fan fest" type of event, especially for colder games and basketball games, as a perk for families to fight the cold since their kids could have a fun experience as well.

Just a few ideas as to why I've stopped comparing to Iowa, and focusing solely on Iowa State growing upon what is currently in place at Iowa State.

You did compare to Iowa and you cited the suites. I still haven't seen the numbers of suites they have compared to isu

Please list the number of suites each has so I can understand just how far isu is behind in that area.

I don't think isu has a need for more suites and I don't see the disparity you do. I will be interested in the numbers you must know.

My post earlier stated a simple fact that kinnick has not had some of the improvements that have already been done at trice. Why anyone chose to argue those facts is beyond me.

It's right there in black and white in the article.

BTW an open end to the stadium is not the same as huge gaps between all four sides. I prefer the open end to that but to each his own. They are not the same thing, however.
