Lol.. nice.

So explain to me how Blake Sims would have done this year as ISUs QB? With virtually no running game, a dinged up TE, few receivers who consistently got separation and not having 4-5 of your top receivers able to play much of the year?
You don't think Sam would do well with that massive OL to give him lots of time to throw, 2 stud running backs to take the pressure off him from having to do it all, a healthy Amari Cooper to throw to all year, good TD to Int ratio (although Sam did not play well at TCU). It would be a strong competition between Sims and Sam if they both were at AL. Sims throws the deep ball better, Sam is more accurate and maybe a slightly better runner, IMO.

You realize there's a reason Sam is at Iowa State and Blake is at Bama right? Talent difference. Come on. This isn't even close.

Welcome Jomal. He should compete for a spot.

So many young DB's coming off of redshirts that will compete also. A lot of depth, whether it's good depth or not has yet to be told.

Well my wife is from Bama and it is funny that all the Bama fans see Sims as a game manager. And you never answered my question about how Sims would do at ISU with the same supporting cast? Do you really think the results would be much different? There are a LOT of great QB's in the country and Sam was one of the best in FL. Not exactly Bondurant-Farrar...sorry Chris!

Oh and Sims was recruited as a WR.

A lot of it will be the same story as this last season; guys have to stay healthy at key positions.

Hype train left the station earlier than usual this year. Once burned, twice shy for me. We're lauding a few JUCO players who WILL be an upgrade and push for starting jobs (like we've said about every new player that comes through BTW) but simple fact of the matter is we're getting all giddy about 1 or 2 players when the average to good programs have these kinds of kids throughout their roster as depth.

This program is rebuilding (god I HOPE) but we need MANY MORE of these types of players at most every position to move the needle.

Next year will be a BIG year for ISU football - whether we win or not.

It would be nice if we looked like we belonged on the same field as the rest of the Big XII. Oh, and it would be nice to beat our FCS opponent. Other than that, I'm not asking for much more.

Come on really? You look foolish trying to say Blake Sims wouldn't do better here. Also, I was never one to bag on Sam.

That's all Bama needs is a game manager.... They have all the 5 star talent in the world. McCarron wasn't a great QB by any means he just handed the ball off to Yeldon, Richardson, lacy, and (not sure on this one but, maybe 1 year of Ingram?) How long has it been since a Bama QB has played a meaningful snap in the NFL?
But there's a reason the players are at Bama. They're faster stronger and just overall better players. Would sam look like a Heisman candidate if he had the same WRs as Bama does? Probably. Sims wouldn't be as good here, supporting cast

How is it that foolish? Players at Bama tradionally are the cream of the crop, but they are also surrounded by the cream of the crop. Look how Ingram started out in the NFL. He sucked till this year. Same goes for T Rich. When is the last Alabama QB that succeeded in the NFL? Its way easier to loom like an All American when you are surrounded by them. I don't think Sam would tear it up at Bama, but not like Sims would have led us to 9 or 10 wins.

Not to nit-pick, but the average height would be 5'11.5''.

I guess humor isn't for everyone.

Don't even try to attempt that all your negative posts are just supposed to "humorous". They aren't. I suppose all the "Fire Rhoads" comments are just made in jest?

Welcome and congratulations Jomal! Wise choice.

I did like three things in the highlights: Speed, decision making, and aggressiveness. People worried about the measureables can be myopic and not understand that some people can just play. Period.

Jomal looks like one of those types. Actually excited to see him on gameday.

There are reasons I am not an engineer....stupid internet converter letting me down in front of people.
