How is it that foolish? Players at Bama tradionally are the cream of the crop, but they are also surrounded by the cream of the crop. Look how Ingram started out in the NFL. He sucked till this year. Same goes for T Rich. When is the last Alabama QB that succeeded in the NFL? Its way easier to loom like an All American when you are surrounded by them. I don't think Sam would tear it up at Bama, but not like Sims would have led us to 9 or 10 wins.
Exactly, you get what I'm trying to say. Would Sam be a game manager under Saban? Yes and with his accuracy and tendency not to turn the ball over, and gain sticks with his feet, Saban would like Sam. Sims throws the deep ball well and better than Sam but he should because he can scan the field, set his feet consistently and throw to the best WR in college football who always gets separation.
My whole point was to get some of you QB haters to consider the supporting cast of WRs, Running game and OL to protect you and giving a QB an extra second or two to throw. Makes all the difference.
Considering the health and talent issues on the OL, lack of running game, WR and TE health issues, playing the last 2 games after separating his shoulder, Sam has done pretty darn well at ISU. He is not the turnover machine SJ was and has a much worse OL to work with. He'd have many more wins on different teams. Had he have even an average Defense, he'd have many more wins under his belt at ISU. Wish he had AJ and Jake playing at same time!
BTW, I never said Sam would beat out Sims, I'm just saying it would be an interesting competition if they both played at AL. IMO if Sims was at ISU this year under the same circumstances I don't think the WL records would be much different.
Sorry to hijack your thread Jomal. Welcome to ISU, great choice!
