Jomal Wiltz Commits

Show me a school that doesn't exaggerate height/weight and I'll give you all of the money the world has to offer.

Here's the thing about the recruits this staff gets, many of them don't belong in the conference. Our constant bottom-dwelling tells us this much. Now, I have no idea if this kid is a stud or not. I'm just making a broad observation.

So a guy like Tom Farniok, who only had one offer.......us.......and you can tell us right away that he was not worthy of a scholarship. Or did you predict that he would be a 4 year starter at that time?

Hell, you are in the wrong business. You should be in the recruiting analyst business with your great insight and knowledge. First you say that our recruits suck.......and then you say you have no idea if they are a stud or not.

You are a complete joke. Always negative. Never anything good to say. You can leave anytime Debbie Downer.

Really jumping to conclusions there, guy. Nowhere did I say our recruits suck. Rather, I said many of them don't don't belong in the conference. Big difference. Lastly, I'm not "always negative". I call things as I see them. Puffery may be your thing, but it ain't mine.

Really? Use of the word "many" implies that the majority of our recruits suck that this staff recruits. And now you say that you really didn't say that?

We have had several recruits commit to us that we have been after to try and help this team. These recruits have been targeted by Iowa State and we have gotten commitments from them and these recruits have had other Power 5 Conference offers. These recent recruits are expected to have a significant impact on next year's team.

If you can't say something positive then just say NOTHING. Why do you have this obsession to throw a wet towel of negativity over us getting some highly regarded recruits that should help our team?

No. The word most means the majority. As you noted, I used many and not most for that very reason.

Anyway, this is a message board that allows people with differing opinions to state those opinions. You can easily block me and move about your life.

Definition of "many". Seems to me you are trying to use the definition for "some".

So, back on topic....From what I've heard of Jomal and from watching his video, this kid is a solid pick up! Should at the very least compete for a starting role come August.

I assume Tribune is a firmly entrenched starter, so does that mean Richardson, Lynn, Wiltz, and all the Freshmen will be competing for the other cornerback spot? Will somebody move full time to nickelback or safety?

So WHY do you have this obsession to come to a Cyclone Message Board and post your "many" negative opinions?

And did you say that you would leave this message board if Iowa State beat Iowa in football?

The **** are you talking about? This just proves that you obviously have no idea about my posting history on CF. I'm not a negative nancy as you stated. Nor am I serious about my posting here, generally speaking. Since you apparently have nothing better to do with your time, go back and look through my previous posts on CF, become familiar with them, and then ***** and moan about how I post.

*I'm going to slightly complain*

These short DB's don't get me excited. We need big DB's in this league.
Let the NFL know when you find some 6' guys that can cover, because they haven't found them in any meaningful quantity either despite looking for 20 years. The way the game is played and officiated a cb has to be FAR more explosive in and out of breaks than the receivers. Taller guys struggle with that.

Assuming Mutcherson is back, I'll assume Nigel, TJ, and Kamari are pretty much locked in. He'll compete and I would guess by the end of the year at least he'll be starting. Big time getting him here in December.

Last comment was meant for Section......got you two mixed up........MY MISTAKE. And I will delete that comment.

I do take issue with negative comments concerning our most recent recruits. WHY be negative towards them? We have actually gotten some great commits lately. Immediate needs and talented players. Hopeful for an Antoine Albert commit. Which you should like since he is 6'2".

He will compete. If we get Antoine Albert tomorrow, I think he may be a starter.

Don't sleep on Mike Johnson. I think he will be a player.

Clearly can't have too much speed in the secondary and we've had some attrition and lack of development there. Looks like he has major speed and some versatility in terms of position as well as special teams. I think he's beg enough and certainly fast enough, but he looks raw and lacks technical skill. I'm glad to have him for his physical skill, and it's good he's going to be around for Spring Ball. Welcome aboard to Jomal and his family.

Tribune was struggling at the end of the year. IMO, he was dinged up and injured and played anyway. IMO, Albert is a potential starter at one CB. Tribune at the other. And I would expect Lynn, Richardson and Wiltz to all be in the mix. We should be improved at CB at any rate. I am hopeful we play more of a press coverage than what we have played in the past.

On the Defensive Line, we were really dinged up at DT. Brandon Jensen was playing injured. And the other DT's were undersized and dinged up as well. Corey Morrissey will be missed at DE. But Taylor and Pierson were playing okay and I expect them to improve. Now add in our other returners plus the injured Luna to the mix and a possible switch back to DE by Mitchell Myers. IMO, we are okay at DE.

The DT's have starters in Leath and Tucker. And now we will have Trent, Garcia, Aka, and Ayeni backing them up. That is an improvement.

At the safeties, we should be better since they now have experience and return.

At LB, Jordan Harris has moved to the top of the depth chart at MLB. Mills played some and also Knott. And we have other young guys to fill in. They have to step up. IMO, we are still a bit weak at LB unless the young guys really come on. But I don't see that a Juco LB coming in next summer would improve things as he would not likely be ready.

Watching Albert's hudl, it looks to me like he'd be a likely nickelback. That would allow CPR to get Wiltz, Johnson, or somebody else on the field at least some of the time.

A lot of it will be the same story as this last season; guys have to stay healthy at key positions.

Why did Harris redshirt this year?

He told me when he was at his juco, they didn't run any schemes for him. They just told him to make plays so when he came here he had to completely learn the scheme. Just wasn't quite ready. With the surge of Jevohn Miller they were able to redshirt him. Should be ready to make a big impact next year.
