Jeff Woody Update?

He should have had 3 weeks off.

Did I say it was stupid to play him against W. Illinois....because it was

Really? Did you read cyclonepop's other posts? He says Jeff was fine in the Iowa game and wanted to play. It was his foot/ankle before and now his knee. One does not have to do with the other. It's football and players get hurt. Luckily, it doesn't sound like this is that serious and he should be back in a week or two. And probably hungrier than ever.

Yeah and if they would have held him out and he did something against Tech that made him look rusty you would have been on here saying it was stupid to hold him out and he needed playing time to get in game shape.

It's pretty simple. The trainers and coaches assessed him and he was ready to play. If that's the case you play him. As stated already this injury didn't have anything to do with his previous injury. Injuries happen, unless you are suggesting we sit the whole starting line up.

According to Rhoads on the Big XII coaches call he hurt the knee on the last PAT attempt (the one that failed).

Another update......he has a level 2 sprain of his MCL. He is in a brace and out for at LEAST a week. Possibly 2

Oh man....this sucks. Too bad he had to hurt it in such an easy win. Hopefully everything heals fast and we get him back in a couple of weeks. The poor kid sure seems snakebit this season.

Loved seeing him run a bit on Saturday night. We really miss him when he isn't in there.

Let the record show that I was opposed to him even seeing the field on Saturday. That's absolutely senseless. No need to play someone that important to our team in a game when they simply aren't needed.

Thy probably could have won without Steele too. Maybe they should have held him out too.

Than why play White, Shontrelle, etc? They weren't needed for us to beat Western Illinois either.

You train and work hard to play 12 games in a year, it's hard to tell a kid that works his butt off that he isn't going to play b/c we don't need him, b/c our opponent isn't any good. It sets a bad example.

Plus, he had a bad ankle. He hurt his knee. What's the issue again? Two completely different injuries.

There are some stupid comments on here. Its too early in the season to sit anyone. Reps need to be had. Its not like he was the one getting carries when we were up by 30. He is a situational RB. I love him, but it is what it is. No need for him NOT to play.

I also said it would be great if he could sit if he wasn't 100% ready. But as has already been pointed out, that doesn't seem to be the case here. I'm not sure how a mostly if not totally healed ankle makes you sprain your MCL.

Woody was hurt on the last special teams play of the game, not while running the ball. Injury is unrelated (obviously) to what he had before.

Before any of you go running off the "don't play him cliff", he's been an integral part of the special teams units since he came off his redshirt and playing low stringers on special teams late in games usually doesn't work since teams try to always keep the units consistent.
