Jeff Woody Update?

Re: Jeff Woody Update

Woody hurt, punter and defense are awesome - when will we finally go for it on 4th down? 55% success last year, 0 attempts this year.

My guess is that Rhoads has viewed the Cyclones as being in control of the games so far this year and didn't feel the need to do so. Looking back over the years, he's been more likely to pull a 4th down fake, or go for it when the team was over-matched by the opponent, or he really wanted to provide a spark.

Something tells me Rhoads trusts this years defense a lot. We'll see some 4th down attempts and fakes, but probably not a lot when ISU is leading and in control.

If he's not 100%, I'd be fine seeing him sit on Saturday. We need him for Big 12 play and we don't need any one play to breeze on Saturday.

+ 1. I'm sure he'd like to play again WIU, but this is probably the best game for him to miss, as far as 'needing' him is concerned.

Nothing better than "smash mouth" football when the situation calls for it and Jeff Woody is the man. No doubt the coaches felt it was too risky to take a chance in the Iowa game because we all know that exactly what was needed was to say "here Herky, stop this" and then ram it down there throat with JW. Now that Jeff is going through a tough situation, pity the poor LB's when he gets the chance. I am looking forward to when it counts, which is Sept. 29th and beyond. Go Woody you're the man.

Thanks for the update, Jeff's dad! We all love cheering on your son. As the Iowa game shows, he can make such an impact on the team in short distance and red zone carries. Iowa State's going to need him for Big 12 play so here's hoping for a full recovery - even if that means sitting out one more game.

Jeff's dad: Amen brother, Woody has actually been my nickname my whole life due to my last name so I can relate.

I heard from someone sitting close to the ISU bench that Woody tore an ACL Saturday. Any truth to that?

Anything is possible, but I find this one hard to believe. He wasn't helped off the field or anything. Unless he tripped in the locker room or something.

I don't recall him getting into the game as I tried to listen. But I just looked at the box score and it says he had 2-carries, 7-yds.

Hope he's ok.

He did take a really funny fall on his second carry or the one called back for a penalty.

That sucks, glad we have a nice stable to work with though. Save Woody for later in the year, no worries.
