Serious question- is it possible this scandal will cost CMC his job? Heads usually roll and once the admin starts feeling heat, they cave and people start resigning.
No, CMC didn’t do anything wrong here. No reason why he’s lose his job.

The players can't bet online while in the state where it is illegal so that probably helps them.I've really enjoyed reading multiple people argue that since sports betting in states like Alabama, Texas, etc. is actually ILLEGAL it won't be investigated like it shouldn't be or something, but since its legal in Iowa it should be investigated. Either way, these guys are idiots for betting on college sports as a college sports athlete.
I won't hold my breath until another state launches a similar investigation.

JP already said we have to do a better job with the compliance efforts so that's where his boss sees the problem.Serious question- is it possible this scandal will cost CMC his job? Heads usually roll and once the admin starts feeling heat, they cave and people start resigning.
We didn't lose to Bama. The kick was GOOD!!!!No I am just stating a fact. Going to a casino doesn't violate any laws. The post I quoted implied going to a casino was a no no. Hell the coaches and players where at the Casino in Shreveport after we lost to Bama.

It prevents them from using Draft Kings, Circa, etc. They could be using offshore sites or bookies, but nobody is really looking for that. There's been no cases announced in those states not because it's illegal there and hence SHOULDN'T happen, but because it CAN'T happen -- geolocation prevents it.
And Seneca was in!We didn't lose to Bama. The kick was GOOD!!!!
Yep. If Bama was kicking for the win and Florida was needing a TD for the win, both would have been good. No respect. And Seneca was in!

I agree mostly. I would say there is definitely something ISU football could’ve done better. Clearly this is on the players, and they deserve no excuses. No, CMC didn’t do anything wrong here. No reason why he’s lose his job.
Goodbye Kevin Dresser then too. I've come to feel that CMC is a bit between a rock and a hard place. Seems the AD's ought to take some blame when the problem is spread over multiple sports. There are a lot more football players though, so...Serious question- is it possible this scandal will cost CMC his job? Obviously not going to lose his job but I don't agree with this at all. For all the talk of culture during his tenure, now we know the locker room was full of some pretty bad team leaders. He can't babysit everyone all the time, that's why part of his job is cultivating the right kind of player leadership to stop stuff like this from happening. He has a huge job in front of him fixing that now.
Part of me is very concerned that 25% of our starters are gone including QB, RB, TE, OL, and DL and part of me is saying “those starters won 4 games last year” and think we’ll be fine.
I’m not sure if or how anyone feels we are even remotely close to that. The head coach from across the state has had a rhabdo scandal, racism scandal, discrimination scandal, and gambling scandal and he’s still the head coach.
This is the first scandal in 8 years of the Matt Campbell era. And it stemmed from something outside of his control.
Those players are gone. Good riddance. A few bad apples don’t spoil the whole bunch.
People are really desperate for some kind of drama in their lives.
Unless it comes out that CMC helped players place bets and helped cover things up, nothing that has happened is a fireable offense.
Now as the leader of his program, it's on him to use this as a teaching opportunity and reinforce his expectations with the players. These players have disrespected the culture, but as someone posted previously, we've had so many good culture players (Purdy, Hall, Kolar, etc) that it doesn't appear to be systemic.
I'm sure CMC and the staff will use this when looking at their talent evaluation efforts. It was pretty clear Dekkers had the talent to be a P5 QB, but there were rumblings even before this that he didn't have the best leadership skills or mindset that would be expected of the starting QB. Even then, you're not going to catch all the intangibles when recruiting a HS kid.
TL/DR, Campbell should take ownership of this as the head coach and use it to better his program. But it appears the people saying he's at fault or should be fired just have an axe to grind because he hasn't won enough games the past couple years.
The rest of the team saw all this happen right in front of them. If there are further problems, it'll be triple stupidity.JP already said we have to do a better job with the compliance efforts so that's where his boss sees the problem.
Or what about the guy who bet his roommate 5 bucks on a game? They just have to not be stupid about it.What about the players that were borrowing their teammates phones and also gambling in the football players lounge?
