ISR Bowl talk

Milton will be good, we know D Jones is solid. Got Kolar and Allen that can own the middle. Right there are a few guys to make the loss bearable.

Purdy was throwing dimes to Butler all year. He wasn't just throwing up jump balls to him all season

An under thrown ball that takes a high level of talent just to catch is not a dime.

It wasn't like that every series or something but it absolutely happened.

Well yeah but way more often than not his throws to Butler weren't jump balls. That's what I was saying

Yeah, Benji, I'm optimistic. You should be familiar with the emotion. Especially when it comes to championships.

Didn’t Montgomery and Butler account for like 70% of Iowa State’s yardage in the Alamo Bowl? Those two are two of the best at their respective positions in Iowa State history. Assuming that a program like Iowa State will be able to replace that type of talent with little to no drop off is...a little ambitious.

With what we bring back, especially at QB, it'd be foolish not to think we'll be better next year

I think another 8 win season isn’t out of the question. A lot hinges on Butler and Campbell. I feel Butler is gone and Campbell stays.

I am confident someone can step up on the outside with how well we've recruited those guys the last couple of years and Purdy will be improved. CMC will be back for sure

Purdy accounted for around 65% of the offense so there is a large chunk returning.

Because without Butler and Montgomery there is a decent chance the offense takes a massive step back.

We return everyone else including one of the best QB's in the country who will be an improved true sophomore and bring in two stud RB's. Go back to a year ago and ISU's offense was going to take a big step back without Lazard too in this same forum. Butler only had production last year because Lazard took all the attention from the defense and Butler was going to struggle without him. Lol

Brock is a higher rated prospect than Montgomery was, so Iowa State is bringing in some talent to replace him. I think you are just mad that Iowa has its worst stable of running backs in the Ferentz era right now.

I can only imagine how worried you are about losing Fant if you think losing Montgomery is that big of a deal

He either led TEs in yards per catch, or had the highest yards per catch of all returning TEs in 2018. You are right about one thing though- Fant and Montgomery should not be mentioned in the same sentence. One of those players is being billed as a first round pick; the other....not so much.

You said Marvin McNutt was better than Butler and Montgomery was slow and only put up garbage time stats but now we can't replace them? Lol

Don't forget there's no way DM was going to have another 1,000 season since there was more film on him.

So is thinking you'll win a natty every year, but here you are...

What things has Benji been right about? It makes me feel more confident that he predicts us to take a step back.

I’ve been right about pretty much everything. Called Josh Jackson, Noah Fant, and TJ Hockenson studs prior to all their breakout seasons. Predicted that Kempt would get injured/benched and fans would treat the next QB like a savior. Correctly pointed out that THT is a bad shooter. I could keep going if you’d like.

More the question why does someone hang around another teams' boards so much?

A few times some funny stuff has been posted about whatever Hokdom uses but there's no way I'd register and get in the middle of that.

How is losing a slow RB who only put up garbage time stats like Montgomery a huge deal? Same with Butler who's not even as good as Marvin McNutt?
