Isaiah Stokes visiting 9/24

Crystal ball is usually correct bc people find out right before the announcement and then change their picks. However there are still times they are wrong like how Ayton just picked Arizona when for the last year all the talk was KU or if not KU then UK.

Late to the party here, but I don't see much of Ridley in his tape at all. Body dimensions aside. Ridley is basically only a low post scorer, and can really only guard centers effectively. Stokes appears to have a decent jumper, and can put the ball on the floor and score. I think a good comparison would be Zach Randolph (the headband may have influenced that comparison).

I don't think anyone was comparing him to Ridley. They were questioning his athletic ability and agility in comparison to Ridley since they were similar in build. I think he is more agile than Ridley.

Old article, but his brother described him as a Boris Diaw, but his description sounded a lot like Niang.

http://www.memphisflyer.com/Memphis...tokes-following-in-brother-jarnells-footsteps

Niang's game was often compared to Boris Diaw's by the media and I'd say it is an apt comparison. Boris success may have opened the eyes of NBA scouts to players ability to succeed playing below the rim paving the way for Niang to get a shot.

Good article describing his dedication to basketball leading to losing 25 pounds before his Junior year. Granted he has his brother to give him advise on a "basketball" diet but it is still impressive for a high school student to show that commitment.

I think lock is too strong here. If he had only scheduled a Oregon visit, then I would say "lock", but since he's clearly singled out Oregon and ISU with his two visits, it tells me there's a chance.

Lean or maybe strong lean are probably better descriptions, IMO.

I'm being lazy here and am just going off of the 100% predictions for Oregon on 247. If he doesn't commit when he's in Oregon, we got a shot at this.

I honestly wasn't sure if this was true so I looked it up. Sure enough, the early signing period is Nov 9-16. It would be amazing if we could get all these guys signed during that period.

(here's the website- http://www.nationalletter.org/signingDates/ )

I've always thought it was crazy that basketball season is after football but basketball classes are signed almost 3 months earlier. If football had an early signing day like basketball, that time would have already passed (before the season) and we'd have our current great class already locked up.

Crystal ball is pretty meaningless this far in advance. It gives you an idea of who may be in good standing with the recruit, but really doesn't say much until a commitment is imminent. And I'd blame the increased talk of the 247 Crystal Ball to Halsted jumping over to 247.

You think Halsted went to 247 because he wanted to be a part of crystal ball predictions? I imagine it had more to do with a bigger paycheck. You know, like every job.

I never even halfway implied that he took a new job to do a crystal ball prediction. What I did imply was that there are a large # of people that followed Alex and did move from Scout to 247 when he got his new job. That's probably why people around here reference 247 more frequently now.

I see now. Just misread it, which is why I put a question mark.

The 247 composite is why people use 247. They have taken over recruiting.

"And I'd blame the increased talk of the 247 Crystal Ball to Halsted jumping over to 247."

I stand by my botched interpretation of that sentence. Blame is usually given to the party that causes something. In this case, blaming "increased talk of the 247 Crystal Ball" to/for "Halsted jumping over to 247". A clearer sentence would've read, "I attribute the increased talk of the 247 Crystal Ball to Halsted's jump to the same service."

I'm attributing the increase in Crystal ball discussion to the fact that ISU is actually getting crystal balls in their favor.

Under Fred we basically didn't recruit HS players and when we did it was 1-2 5-stars each year, so not a lot of momentum in crystal ball picks.
