Is the Magic back?

There are truly magic games. Like the OU second half comeback, the Iowa second half comeback, the OSU 3zus of Nazareth game, Mims saying the rims were shaking from the noise when he needed to miss the FTs, etc. It's overused for sure.

I don't think it is so much the magic was gone, it is more that the fans were not as invested under Prohm because they could see it was an inferior product on the floor. The sad part is some of the best players in the history of the program played under Prohm, and he did win some big games, but his last couple years were so bad that no amount of magic was going to make a difference.

Back in the day the crowd seemed to energize the players. Since 2010ish it seems the opposite. Same in Jack Trice. We only get loud on 3rd down.
Agreed, I always thought that Hilton crowd was fantastic at deciding that it could create momentum by getting loud. A lot places get crazy after their team goes on a run. Not many would get after it when the opponent goes on one. Hilton fans are smart, and sensed the critical moments when the team would need to make their run to get back into it, or when they needed that juice to put the other team away.

I think we got spoiled from such great play from the peak Niang/Morris era that Hilton now waits for the team to start doing something before getting loud.

Still a great atmosphere, but it is a blast to feel like you did something to get the win. Saturday was a step in the right direction.

The Magic never leaves. It might go dormant for a spell but it always returns. And it ain’t science. It’s magic.
Fran Fraschilla had it right in the OU comeback game that it was wafting around somewhere up in the rafters! :)

Hilton Magic is a unique brand, but what built that brand isn't complicated at all. ISU has a good, supportive fan base whose energy can give a team a boost. That's it - it's simple to understand but not easy to build.

It isn't even specific to Hilton - crowds at Jack Trice outpaced the quality of the product on the field for years before Campbell arrived, and it frequently makes weekend trips to Kansas City in March.

When Hilton Magic "goes away," that just means we have a bad team that even great crowd support can't lift up. But the fan base hasn't changed.

Back in the Orr era, the whole crowd would yell at the opposing coach to sit down. Everyone was on the same page, that’s the magic.

The Cyclones won some big games under Prohm. But those wins were not earned because of Prohm’s coaching. Those wins were earned despite Prohm’s poor coaching. Prohm is just a terrible coach.

Can't disagree at all with that statement. He was great I finding and getting guys into the program. THT, Monte, George, Halliburton, etc. TJ is starting to turn the corner on getting talent back at ISU, but even with the guys he threw together he could find a way to win.

he didn't recruit Monte or Niang.

Scott Drew, your timeouts have no power here.
didn't baylor win the past 4 or 5 games in hilton and another 4 or 5 in waco? his timeouts have been plenty effective

It’s just the facts. Prohm sucked like no other. Biggest mistake in ISU basketball history. Bigger than Trickey or Nance because Prohm has real talent that was squandered.

They WERE. He tried twice Saturday. The curse has been broken. Where, O Drew, is your victory? Where, O Bears, is your sting? Get behind me, Scott.

Wow. Talk about deranged. Stalking a poster who posts critical posts about Prohm. Did you and Steve have a happy holiday together?
