Is the Magic back?

A big part of Hilton Magic is outplaying a team with more talent to go bunkers with scrappy play and hitting big shots.

There were clunkers last year in Hilton but playing their asses off is what created the season and it appears that it's the standard. A similar thing may happen this year a couple of times although this team seems to be able to find points at least a little easier.

With this staffs ability to recruit and coach, I think the magic won’t be needed as much.

I wouldn't complain about a hornet's nest that just gets after teams as they get their asses kicked vs. the crowd needing to will the team to the win.

I understand what you're saying, but there was something magical about 1999-2001, where we mostly had more talent than anyone. I guess what I'm saying about the "magic" is if it makes it difficult for teams with more talent to play at Hilton, it makes it almost impossible for teams with equal or lesser talent.

I'll say that yesterday was as loud as I've heard in at least a few years. But it used to be that it would get that loud for a majority of the conference games. I feel like we're a ways away from that yet, but we're getting closer. Hilton always gets loudest when ISU is making a run and is getting back to defend after a big shot. We're just not consistent enough offensively to string many runs together.

The game Saturday was as much fun as I've had in Hilton in quite awhile. At least since that TH/THT team. Funny, about 10 minutes in, it was pretty much the opposite.

Well it's a hell of a lot closer to being back when we don't have a coach that calls a time out whenever we are gaining momentum. That was the most frustrating thing.

Crowd got into it pretty well for the Baylor game I thought
That was always SO stupid from Prohm. You have an advantage. Use it. For whatever reason, he would cut the crowd off at the knees.

It's easy to get excited for guys that bust their asses and dive around for loose balls. Out-working the other team mirrors the mentality of our fanbase.

Hilton crowds love a great shot or spectacular dunk, but we have always rallied behind hustle more than anything else. It shows the guys play with the same heart that beats in our chests.

And TJ completely gets that.

Was basically my next point:

There was 'magic' in that it never felt like ISU was out of a game, and then like you eluded to, there's the 'You're about to go through some things' type that's also great.

The Magic is never gone.

It's a product of Hilton's fans and the fans are always there, and everyone knows it when they see it...

We are quite spoiled by the fact that it isn't like that at most other places

I'm glad that we have something unique associated with ISU, but the back and forth between "Magic" being dead after a loss and then back again after a big win gets a little silly.

There's also wins where ISU just puts a really solid game together and nothing crazy is needed so outside of maybe a couple of runs the place gets loud but not bonkers.

I'm pretty sure CFers have complained about it like a comfortable win isn't enough.

It doesn’t get more Magic than beating a ranked team and making them look absolutely miserable in the process.
