Is golf a sport?

I'm sayin Tiger is in better shape than a ton of athletes. Basketball players run a ton so be in shape. So you'd call them track or marathon runners too?[/hape...QUOTE]

huh? (to the bolded part)

Nope. I just find your statement rather moronic. You realize that theres probably a majority of athletes that run more then tiger does. List could include:

-Basketball players
-Soccer Players
-Track Runners
-Marathon Runners

Does tiger probably work out more then some athletes, sure, but to say a majority is idiotic.

are you kiddin me dude? The only track people who would run more than 5 miles a day would maybe be the ones who run 1 mile + events. Then you have the marathon runners who easily do that, and then soccer players who do that too. But a lot of basketball players may, but a lot of them don't. No way in hell shaq, yao, howard, and a ton more big men do.

I was talking about how much tiger runs to stay in shape because there was a comparison of how baseball players (albert pujols) were in "better shape than tiger."

Tiger is in much better shape than the majority of Baseball and football players. And there are lot more baseball and football players here in teh US than there are the list of sports you piled up. So to call my post idiotic, is just plain ignorant

For every John Daley there's a Prince Fielder, but when you look towards elite players in each sport, I'll all but guarantee Albert Pujols is more of an athlete than Tiger Woods is. Tiger might be just as strong, but I'll bet Albert has better footwork, quickness, etc. Things that make you an "athlete". The one advantage a golfer might have is hand eye coordination, but hitting a ball that's on the ground is MUCH easier than hitting a 93 mph two seam that's moving.

Quickness?? Can you stop mid swing because you see the shadow of a bird? Don't try this at home.

Well maybe you should be more specific there champ, you said majority of athletes. Not majority of baseball and football players there chief... So maybe back up the truck and re-read what you first posted before you call me ignorant.

Random thoughts on this topic

baseball players don't have to play their foul balls, golfers do
Tiger ran on his high school cross country team, does that make him an athlete now
Track and Field is the only sport every thing else is just a game or match

Last time I checked Baseball and Football require the majority of people.

If you want to get all technical, I bet the # of pro athletes in football and baseball are a little bit more than basketball, soccer, and track/field. :jimlad:

Baseball players foul balls still count against them under 2 strikes.

Is cross country a sport?

If throwing a discus is a sport, how isn't frisbee or frisbee golf?

Ha you do realize, soccer is the most popular sport in the world. I'm willing to bet there are more soccer players+ track + marathon runners then basketball + football players.

Sport = Any competetive exercise between teams or individuals that require a scoring system as a measure of outcome for the ending of who is better.....

also why does everyone assume only Athletes can particapate in a Sport....?

IMO
