This is one of the most mind numbingly stupid things I've read. He is basically arguing that Fran hasn't done anything to be fired yet = deserves to be a lifer. But also implying that if he starts to under perform he will lose lifer status. He just doesn't understand what a lifer is.

That being said I agree 100%. Fran should coach Iowa forever or until he runs out of his kids' eligibility. Forever will probably happen first tbh

Agree... he obviously has no idea whatsoever what the statement "Fran has earned the right to coach at Iowa for as long as he desires" even means.

That means if he wins zero games the next 3 years.... he deserves to stay at Iowa if he wants to. Uhh... that ain't happening.

Like Hassel said... there's almost no coach in the country that deserves that. Maybe Saban?? But even he'd get canned if he didn't win enough games the next 4 years or so.

Fran has been a good mix of overperforming and underperforming.

Several AA/NPOY types, consistent rosters, good shooters and all but have fallen flat when it really matters.
