I’ve heard Fran has a journal of every former Iowa player and has their sons recruiting class written down. Also has a schedule he hands out that tells them when they’re allowed to conceive to space em out.
That kid is ranked pretty high. #51 in the nation with some nice offers already. Would be the 3rd highest recruit in the history of Iowa basketball if he ends up there.

1979 John Campbell is hired by KCRG TV for sports---the same year Iowa hired Hayden Fry
It was a landmark moment and Campbell immediately was enamoured and enthralled by this god-like coach...John became the biggest Hayden butt-kisser ever and still works part time for the station, mostly high school fb games
Circa 1985-86 Howard James is KGAN's sports anchor.
He went rogue one fall on Mondays or Tuesdays. He ended his sports segment w/ an actual 2-minute critique of Iowa football results. After one game, Howard criticizing some moves by Hayden--on air.
Hayden apparently called the station the next day and James was FIRED same week
This tidbit cast a long shadow w/eastern Iowa sports people, TV and print news. They have all walked on egg shells for 35 + yrs since
For the old timers, Hayden Fry was a first class pri#ck w/ ISU in the media during the 1980's, and Criner/Walden just took it up the azz for yrs. And ISU still hasn't fully recovered
Fast forward to 2010-ish, when the BIg 12 was teetering w/ realignment. KCRG's other Hawkeye butt-kissing shill--Scott Saville, cracked a couple aholish comments on air that ISU could end up in the MAC Conference.
MAC Football recent 5-year average in attendance ??

ISU fb average? 55,000-60,000; 14K mbb; 10K WBB
