Iowa Beat Writers

Love that Jeremiah makes a pretty mild point without even naming names and the first person in his replies crying about how he is somehow wrong (he isn’t) is Chad Jr….

Through this whole (committee part of it at least) thing I always thought this was the most interesting. The way the mouthpieces beat writers for the Hawkeyes tried to (and did) spin the narrative about journalistic integrity rather than the issue at hand and how many people ate that up. Especially since the original article had quotes from Kirk and the ADs office!

He's a blogger at a fan site with no journalistic integrity. If he says bad things about Iowa, people will cancel their 247 subscriptions and he losses his job.

I get it, just needs to get off his knees every once and awhile
It would such a rough job, honestly. That fan base eats their own if their collective chodes aren’t licked properly.

I understand that, but he's more than just a blogger the dude is like an actual Iowa fanboy. And it's one thing to not write bad things about Iowa but it's another to be guard dog on Twitter when anything is written negatively about Iowa.

Especially from a completely mild mannered guy like Jeremiah. All he did was point out some of his former friends/colleagues got mistreated and David tripled down on it.

It's just in his DNA where he cannot resist commenting on something that shines a negative light on Iowa. He also knows that there are a TON of Iowa fans who do the exact same thing and it gives him a lot of likes.

Jeremiah: "some of my colleagues were mistreated when they were actually right"
Eickholt: "Hawk fans. Attack!!!!!!!"

He's Iowa's self-anointed White Knight.

IMO this is where he goes too far. He is constantly whining and crying about everything that doesn't go Iowa's way and he so quick to defend both Kirk and Fran. I mean I get it, he's covering for fan site but still, have a little integrity and spit Herk's balls out every once in awhile.

What's the back story on this?

Kirk tried to dissolve the committee dedicated to working with him to improve racial relations with the staff and players. The head of the committee tried to get coaches to actually do more than just lip service and Kirk didn’t want to bother with it. So when he tried to dissolve the committee in silence the Gazette interviewed the former head of the committee. Than when the story blew up Kirk backpedalled and claimed he was just “restructuring” the committee. Chad, Eikholt, and the Hawk chorus were furious at the two writers for writing a negative story about Kirk, pointing to the hastily after the fact statement Kirk released. Of course now it comes to light that the Gazette story was 100% accurate and Jeremiah just wanted the writers to get an apology.
