This has nothing to do with beat writers, but KCRG just showed the Iowa State score vs LSU and talked about the win for 15 seconds. Not even one highlight. That is why I stopped watching the local media in Cedar Rapids. I happened to be watching tonight because of the weather and they teased the Iowa State men. I stuck around for a 15 second graphic. KCRG....GFY.
Agree.... total garbage. Let me guess.... none of the CR media bothered to send anyone up the road to Milwaukee, right?
I'm not able to watch it, but I'm surprised it wasn't followed by a 2-minute package about "what might have been" for Iowa.
No, they were expecting a final four run from the Hoks.
It's all about the territory. Lincoln TV does the same thing with Creighton all the time.
And yet, last Sunday their website had a story on it within 15-20 minutes of completion of the Big 10 title game- ISU game tonight was done a full hour before the 10pm news and yet no highlights or reporter on the scene. Saville has such a boner for anything Hawkeye and he worked under Campbell for years who was also pro Hawk/anti-ISU- he was trained well. On Iowa Live ought to be great on Monday night- they'll stroke Bluder's Bunch and the wild card they always pull out when ISU is better in a sport than Iowa- the looney tunes Brands' brothers and the wrestling team...and do a feature on Iowa spring football. KCRG is a joke in their coverage of anything ISU. They never did put a story on their website after the shellacking in Ames in December- just acted like it never happened.
Iowa wrestling is not doing well right now compared to their usual standards. One in the finals and that was an unexpected one.
Repeating: they had nothing on ISU's win over Iowa.
And somehow Iowa losing an NCAA tourney game will be a bigger feat than ISU winning one.
Sears and Chad are probably too busy coddling each other yet in Buffalo over their lovefest for Iowa.

I'm listening to radio shows from yesterday, and they were talking about Iowa next year. Let me tell you these guys are setting up this Dasonte Bowen kid for failure. He's a completely fine prospect, but several hosts kept saying he was a top 100 prospect (I can't find a single service ranking him there) and they are talking about him coming in and starting. A guy with his recruiting profile coming in and taking over the starting spot is typically a very bad sign.
Of course.... because you know.... Iowa was going to go on this long deep run into the tourney, possibly Final Four..... and ISU was just going to get trounced by LSU.
We'll see if any of the news channels in eastern Iowa now send anyone to Milwaukee to cover us on Sunday? To cover the best basketball team in the state.
They thought for sure that team was going on a deep run. That thinking got dashed on Thursday and they can't stand it. That's why we've seen nearly every excuse under the sun since then.

At least two guys … right after the game on the KCRG news they had some producer doing the live stand-up report because Saville was off trying to get an interview with Fran. Poor guy was lost on-camera.
Just give everything east of Marshalltown to Illinois. We don't want it.
