Didn't the Squawks use the same excusexat Rutgers 4 or 5 years ago?
It was at Maryland who uses the Under Armour ball- Peter Jok was one of them who was complaining afterwards.

Most programs with the budget that Iowa has order a couple of balls in each brand/model that they will play with at each road game so they can practice with them in the days leading up to that game. Iowa, as almost all of the Nike schools, use the Nike ball- so Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue, Sparty, Iowa State, etc. plus their own home games- would have been the ball they played with the most. Some of the adidas and UA schools use those brands- others use the new Wilson that just came out this year. Hardly anybody uses the Spalding ball at the DI level (West Virginia does) but surprisingly, the Spalding ball didn't throw the Hawks off last weekend in Indy where it was used for the league tourney. This is along the lines of Aaron White being sick of losing to "teams that we are better than". Come on, Fran and Chad- you can do better.

I believe Texas Tech uses an Under Armour ball as well, and my understanding is that they are pretty universally loathed. That said, I think the entire Big 10 is a fake ID this year, so not a surprising result, regardless of ball.

(Now watch Wisconsin go win the damn thing).

Here are some of the analysts and broadcasters who have Iowa Hawkeyes in their Final Four:

**** Vitale
Rece Davis
Scott Van Pelt
Seth Greenberg
Clark Kellog
Jimmy Dykes
Marty Smith
Kevin Negandhi
Sean Farnham
Dan Shulman
Jeff Borzello
Myron Medcalf
Paul Biancardi
Kenny White
At least Bilas wasn't stupid enough to join this group..

I do get a kick out of that new guy Kensington. You can tell he’s kind of perplexed by Chad L. During the football season when the normal homers were talking about how no changes needed to be made on offense, he was like changes need to be made on offense. And today he at least asked some legit questions.

Get some crack researchers on this because in browsing threads I thought I ran across the nugget that Jor is the first 2000 point scorer in NCAA history to not average 10 points a game.

So all this begs the question -- which was a bigger story for the basketball season:

Coach O taking Iowa State to the NCAA tournament in his first season after the Cyclones went 2-22 overall last season and didn't win a conference game. Or....

Fran McCaffery leading Iowa to a Big 10 title for the first time in his 12th year as head coach

IMO it's obviously TJ. Big deal for Fran to win that conference tourney, but losing that game brings the shine off that immediately.

We'll be bummed if we lose tonight but this season still has been a rousing success.

Regarding NCAA tournament travel rules, the NCAA requires each losing team to return home immediately. So the Hawkeyes got to head home before the tournament was barely underway. At least they got to sleep in their own beds last night.

The old song "Tears On My Pillow" just came to mind

Great that they will be home in time to watch a former foe play tonight. I am sure they always root for ISU whenever they are not playing the Hawks.:jimlad:
