I am glad we forced DMac out. It needed to be done- after 12 years things were stale.
The more we learn of CPR's ability to "build" a program, the more it becomes a fallacy he is better than DMac. If CPR had the task DMac faced he would have failed miserably, whereas had a young DMac somehow been hired after Chizik he would look a lot better IMO.
I like Mac as much as the next guy, but he ain't winning 8 or 9 games a year playing the all the south teams every year.
Not so sure. CPR did things DMac never did. Like beat Nebraska at Nebraska. Beat Texas at Texas. Upset the undefeated #2 team in the nation. IMO, all those things are the main reasons he is getting the opportunity to coach this fall.
I found it, the only 2 conference championships were in 1911 and 1912 Missouri Valley conference championships with Clyde Williams as head coach. It has only been 103 years. That is very interesting.
Didn't realize CPR did that in the 90's. Good to know.

It is very interesting how seldom ISU has winning seasons, and for how many of them they had to get a former Iowa coach to accomplish that. Or a former Iowa player going way back to Clyde Williams. Could you post some stats on conference championships and who was the coach when the cyclones won them too please.

I did some research and found that ISU has only had 13 winning seasons in football the past 50 years. Over half of those 13 years we finished one game over .500. MCarney had four of them and Earle Bruce three. Walden had a couple 6-5 years and as we know CPR has had one. Let's hope to start winning season number 14 Saturday against the Panthers!
Sounds about right. This may come as a surprise to some of you.. but we have a historically horrid football program. Unfortunately that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon.
Is it ironic? So did Marty Fine, but I am glad he isn't our HC.Ironically CPR helped DMac build that program.
Yeah and there's no difference between the schedules in the 90s and now, either. Good to know.

Yes, that is what assistants do.Yes it is ironic, he recruited many on the guys on the 9-3 team.
It still amazes me how we tossed Mcarney aside. I firmly believe f we would have kept him we'd have had a couple 8 or 9 win season since his departure

Uhh, looks pretty damn similar. That's all most are trying to say. I'm glad Dan was let go when he was, and Rhoads should have been too after last year.First six seasons.
Dan 26-42
1 bowl win, 2 losses
CPR 29-46
1 bowl win, 2 losses
So no, even with a hell of a lot easier schedules, Dan wasn't better.
