If there's anything I've learned from working with some PhD candidates and PhD holders, its that they are very smart in their field of study, but also can be very dumb with some common sense things.

That they've only used 3 times since it was reinstated in 1976. Idaho isn't Texas when it comes to the death penalty.

Some. The ones I met are pretty smart all around. I wouldn't be shocked if this guy was crazy enough to not really care if he was caught. Maybe it was all part of his twisted experiment.
I love true crime. I watch shows and listen to podcasts etc. I often think about how popular this stuff is now and how in depth many of these platforms go on the details related to CSI procedures etc. With phones, cameras etc it is harder than ever to not get caught. But, all of this information is the main stream has to be growing some Super-Serial Killers who will be tough to be caught.....obviously this guy isn't one of them.
So he left the knife cover at the scene? And he left his phone on while at the scene? This guy is an idiot.
Left his phone on when we was around the house/area during prior visits before the crime. Phone was off during the crime, according to the cell records in the affidavit.
Phone was off during murder but he had it on during many prior casing visits. Probably came back to look for the sheath at 9am next day.
I wish folks would remember this for the next national story.

That is what is being reported. The FBI wanted the police to get body cam footage to see if he had any injuries on his hands etc.
I haven't really followed this so parson any ignorance but I think the use of 23&me or whatever non police DNA database is setting a bad precedent on a fundamental privacy level.
