Idaho killings

I'm still trying to process what the one roommate saw/heard.

So she starts by hearing noises, opens the door and thinks she hears her roomate say something to the effect of "there's someone here".

So then later hears crying and a man say "everything will be alright" and opens the door and sees him walk by and leave the house.

Am I understanding that correctly? I'm trying to understand who he would have been talking to the first time around, and who would have been crying as he left (presuming they are all dead at that point).

Not necessarily but he was stalking one or more of the victims. His phone pinged at the location of the residence 10+ times during a span of time- can't recall what it was off the top of my head

How did they know this without first suspecting him?

I guess I'm asking... what drew their first suspicions to him? The cell phone pings? That seems insane to sort through without a specific target.

If you read it, it all starts with the car. Which leads to the phone pings. Then confirming DNA found on the knife sheath left behind, using his fathers dna from trash.

Also note at 4am there was a doordash delivery. So the 'someone is here' she very well could have thought referred to that.

Adding additional context; Moscow police also reached out to WSU police for car records/registrations to find any matching vehicles.

Yeah the story is strange and doesn’t really add up, but how drunk was she at this time?

It was his car description. Washington State University Police at the request of the Moscow police searched the student data base with any student that own a white Hyundai Elantra. Once it was determined the wsu did have a student with that car and matching the physical description from the roommate description that sent them down the road of the suspect.

If he doesn’t leave the knife case behind and leaves his phone off while casing the place, he may not have gotten caught.
*as fast

As more and more comes out, I'm sure more "mistakes" on his part will come to life.

The stalking with his phone on him sure seems like a really, really dumb plan if your intent was to murder them. Being placed around their house in the middle of the night on that many occassions was pretty poorly thought out...

All you have to do is watch Dateline and they pretty much spoon feed you what not to do.

It was all circumstantial until the dumpster dna.

I love the fact he waived extradition to hurry back to Idaho to figure out what they had against him only to realize that he was a really, really bad criminal.

So are we to assume he didn't see the last roommate? Because I have to think he would have killed her as well. Seems odd she was close enough to him to describe his eyebrows but he didn't see her.
