Maybe. But you don't know what they know. They're perhaps right and know exactly who did it and there is no danger. Keeping details close to the chest to help the prosecution later.

Moscow literally touches the border to Washington. Spokane is a decent sized town. Moscow… not so much.

I'm sure they do, but I would think they would at least say that a suspect is in custody or something that gives the public some reassurance that there's not still a killer on the loose. If I'm a student out there, I'd hope for some sort of update before going about my life.

Even if they have damning evidence, it's weird to just tell the public it's an isolated targeted attack, nothing else, and then expect everyone to be fine.
