Do -you- know him? Of all Cyclone fans or even long time Ames residents, less than 1% can claim that they know Fred Hoiberg on a personal level. I don't think Hoiberg is some great manipulator who's been playing Cyclone Nation since his days as a player just to ultimately ditch us for the NBA. However, I would have to say that based on reports of how he interacted with players on this move that his integrity is definitely in question. Yes, it's probably what he had to do and he meant it as just business, but that doesn't mean it shows good integrity to tell his players he plans to stay while he is deeply involved in negotiating a deal to be the coach of another team.
Here's the thing: Fred Hoiberg is not the devil, we can all agree on that. What some people (I assume these are long time Ames residents who feel a tie to the Hoiberg family) who feel the need to defend him no matter what need to understand is that he is no angel either. His integrity is rightfully in question over his actions during this transition. Even people who are generally good sometimes act in ways that don't show full integrity, especially when it comes to securing jobs and promotions for themselves.
