How far can Iowa go?

I think Iowa loses Saturday and goes 11-1 during the season. Then sees OSU in the BIG Championship game, probably loses that and ends up playing Cinncinati in the Fiesta Bowl.

Iowa State loses to OU in the Big 12 Championship game and gets ND in the Alamo Bowl.

Pretty plausible. Wouldn't be surprised if there was also a slip up in Lincoln or somewhere either. My hope would be under that scenario is that Buckeyes still get in the CFP and Hawks to the Rose Bowl.

Also could see Clones vs Texas in BIG 12 title game. Not buying in on Oklahoma this year.

You think as a conference the Big 10 is strong defensively? Iowa is ok, but has gotten several lucky breaks. Penn State seems to have a decent defense but who have they played? And don't say Wisconsin because that offense is REALLY bad. Outside of that, it's just a bunch of bad teams or at least very bad defenses like Ohio State.

Saying the Iowa defenses is just ok is just being an Iowa hater. I'm truly ok with that but to be accurate just say "I hate Iowa". Saying Iowa's defense is just ok is the equivalent of saying Troy Davis was just an ok RB or Seneca Wallace was just an OK QB. If you cannot give credit where credit is due that you lose credibility. It is acceptable for Iowa and Iowa State to be good at stuff, no matter who you cheer for, jeeez.

I agree. Losing players such as Epenesa and Nixon the last two year I just knew there would be a dropoff, but it seems they are even better now. VanValkenburg has been amazing.

Color me naive but I think not having a national headliner on D coming into this season like Epenesa and Nixon were coming into their last seasons has been a good thing. I don't know if it's taken pressure off, opened the door for others to shine, or helped that the opposing OC doesn't have that singular focal point to plan around. Could be way off, just a thought.
