How far can Iowa go?

Its not like EIU is running some super secret defense with 5 star athletes all over the field. They have played 5 games, all on film, its the same as its been the past couple of years.

So it safe to say that Campbell and Purdy know what EIU is going to do on defense against ISU, now whether or not Manning can come up with a game plan to defeat it is still in question. Maybe he just needs to watch EIU/NW games, it will show exactly how to beat it. And they do it repeatedly with worse athletes than Iowa State is fielding this year.
With worse athletes? Lol. That’s delusional. If everything you think was true then you would just have to admit that your coaching staff is totally inept. You obviously have considerable talent and probably more returning experience than almost any other team in college football. What you don’t have are superior athletes or coaching.

Iowa is so much younger and has lot more talent on the roster than ISU does. If a veteran ISU squad can’t be an inexperienced Iowa squad this year, the gap is only going to widen next year as ISU become super young next year.

How many passes have WR from EIU caught in the NFL in the last decade? How many RB's have taken a snap? EIU did not have better talent when they beat Miss. St. in their bowl game a few years ago, but they were a lot more disciplined.

Only you are delusional over rating your talent, its the same type of players year after year, lineman, TE and Safeties. You have had one QB drafted in the past decade, its been years since you had a WR drafted, in the last draft the Viking were drafting a punt returning, not a WR. When was the last back drafted? They have good talent, but they are not Alabama, OSU or OU talent.

EIU returned a starting QB, Running Back, 4 of the 5 lineman, TE, Punter and Field goal kicker. On defense 1 on the D line, all 3 LB's, and most of the secondary. Most have red shirted, while they are young on the roster, most have been in the system for 3 years or more.

Take a look at EIU’s depth chart. Pretty young. The 2 true FS receivers look pretty decent as well.

Without a doubt, but to say that they are young and not experienced through the lineup is not true at all. Most are red shirt sophomores and juniors. The difference between the two rosters, is many of ISU players at the skilled position never red shirted, while all but the starting RB at EIU have. ISU are mostly 4 year seniors, while EIU are 4 year juniors.

Totally. It’s a weird situation for them. They are going to lose some dudes though. IA isn’t deep enough to replace a Linderbaum and the starting CBS are very good.

Jack Campbell is teeing himself up for a tough decision after this year. He would be a huge loss. He is playing as good of football as any Iowa linebacker I’ve seen in my lifetime. Yes, I said it and I believe it. His ceiling as an NFL linebacker is very high. He has a better combination of size and athleticism than Jewell, Greenway, Angerer, Hitchens, Kirksey, Morris, and the Niemann brothers. He’s a freak at 6’5 243 lbs and he’s putting together a pretty special season.

Josey Jewell had an incredible individual performance against Penn State during a night game in Kinnick a few years ago. Campbell will be on a big stage on Saturday. I’m hoping to see a similar game out of him.

The only people “overrating their talent” are the cyclone fans on this board. Most fans recognize their teams aren’t stocked like Alabama or Ohio State but there’s not a lot of comparison when it comes to the two deeps and depth between the two iowa schools. Iowa rotates a lot more players too.

How is it that you know absolutely nothing about sports, other that Iowa State bad, Iowa good?

I think Nebraska beats Michigan this weekend. Threw up a little typing that.
I don’t think Nebraska’s offense is good enough to upset Michigan. Martinez will probably make some mistakes that give the game away.

LOL if you think new starters don't have a learning curve. Iowa has had 4 new starters on the OL for much of the first 5 games. LT is a RS FR (didn't start last year), RT is a RS SO (didn't start last year), the LG is a TR FR (Obviously never started last year) and the RG has been Britt a lot of the year and he wasn't a starter last year. Shooter is finally getting healthy, so that should help stabilize the offensive line. Lets flip to the Defensive line where we returned 1 out of the 4 starters on the DL. Iowa has 4 Fr in the two deeps that play on the defensive line (Iowa rotates 8 guys there).

Now next year we are going to be returning a TON of these same players. ISU is going to be replacing what 15-20 starters? Lets see if ISU can just put RS Fr and RS So on the field and replace the starters production, I mean they have been "in the system for 2-3 years" they should just jump right in and replace those starters, right? LOL.

Just stop. I'm not the one to bring it up but do you even know how many Hawkeyes are in the NFL? One example.......... Tristan Wirfs absolutely is an ELITE level athlete. Drafted higher than any Cyclone player ever. He's just 1 example. The Hawkeyes have had more consensus All-Americans in the last decade than you've had in the history of your program. You FINALLY are going to get some guys drafted in 22 but most likely not in the first round. The longest drought of any P5 team. I get that David Montgomery is a good pro back and had some success and Hall will too. But the talent of those guys doesn't make up for the talent deficit that you have had in other areas across the field. Again, I know you have some talent and some athletes but don't kid yourself into thinking you're sending a superior gifted team out on the field to face the Hawkeyes. You probably do have advantages in some areas but across the board you do not.

Not sure , how many 1st round picks has each school had ?

He really has no football knowledge at all. He spouts off crap that is wildly inaccurate and thinks he scores major points. LOL.

Holy crap. I know. Not a single one of us Hawkeye fans deny that they have vastly improved under Campbell either. But it has really gone to some of their heads.
