How far can Iowa go?

Jack Campbell is teeing himself up for a tough decision after this year. He would be a huge loss. He is playing as good of football as any Iowa linebacker I’ve seen in my lifetime. Yes, I said it and I believe it. His ceiling as an NFL linebacker is very high. He has a better combination of size and athleticism than Jewell, Greenway, Angerer, Hitchens, Kirksey, Morris, and the Niemann brothers. He’s a freak at 6’5 243 lbs and he’s putting together a pretty special season.

Josey Jewell had an incredible individual performance against Penn State during a night game in Kinnick a few years ago. Campbell will be on a big stage on Saturday. I’m hoping to see a similar game out of him.
selfishly hoping he comes back next year. He's finally coming into his own and getting the recognition he deserves. Next years version of him would be unbelievable.

Yep, he keeps this up he will be the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year and a high draft pick. He will have a big decision for sure.

How many passes have WR from EIU caught in the NFL in the last decade? How many RB's have taken a snap? EIU did not have better talent when they beat Miss. St. in their bowl game a few years ago, but they were a lot more disciplined.

Only you are delusional over rating your talent, its the same type of players year after year, lineman, TE and Safeties. You have had one QB drafted in the past decade, its been years since you had a WR drafted, in the last draft the Viking were drafting a punt returning, not a WR. When was the last back drafted? They have good talent, but they are not Alabama, OSU or OU talent.

You forgot CBs and LBs too. Iowa might have more LBs in the league than ISU has total players.

Their defense is pretty good this year. Top 20 good. But their offense relies solely on Martinez which is a recipe for disaster.

Do you think their defense is “top 20 good” because of ability, or schedule?

It’s easy to put up stats against the schedule they played

I know they played Oklahoma, but the ou offense has struggled at times this year.

they still had over 400 yards against that vaunted defense.

I mean West Virginia, who had 4 turnovers and gave up almost 500 of yards of offense against Maryland, held Oklahoma to less than 300 yards. Do you think the ‘neers have a top ten defense then?

The lack of RBs is glaring for a team like Iowa and how they want to play. I think that is the difference between them and Wisconsin the last ten years. That Miss St team was loaded on defense.

Technically, they have 3 QBs drafted in the last decade because Stanzi was drafted in 2011 and if you count QB starters that were drafted you could add Rudock in there which is 4 QBs that have started over the last ten years have been NFL draft picks. I think Vandenberg had a cup of coffee with the Vikings as an UFA.

Lack of a consistent vertical passing game and unimaginative/predictable playcalling hasn't helped the cause.

Iowa hasn't had a good RB since Greene

That’s like being named the biggest little person . And he won’t be a high draft pick.

One of the dumbest posts I’ve seen in a long time.

Because guys like Joey Bosa, Josey Jewell, Devin Bush, Ryan Kerrigan, Jabril Peppers, James Laurinaitis, John Simon, and Chase Young are all in the category of “biggest little person”

Why did you pretend to be an Iowa State fan?

Big Ten defenses aren't good this year. Just because they've had a few good players play in the Big 10 once in awhile, doesn't mean that it is a good defensive league. It's very poor offensive league, which often times makes defenses look better than they are, but this year it's just not a good league in most aspects of the game.

I think Iowa loses Saturday and goes 11-1 during the season. Then sees OSU in the BIG Championship game, probably loses that and ends up playing Cinncinati in the Fiesta Bowl.

Iowa State loses to OU in the Big 12 Championship game and gets ND in the Alamo Bowl.
