How far can Iowa go?

I always find it comical that ISU fans complain about strength of schedule when Iowa plays and beats them every year. Especially this year when ISU has their best team ever.
I get it to some degree because they don't have divisional formats. Once big 12 is chopped into divisions though it'll be easier to compare. Big 12 is just unique right now In that it's round robin and best two records gets in championship game.

The thing that always confused me is the way some found the Fake ID of football to be so funny. That was a direct insult to Iowa State at the time.

I can't find it in me to dislike this Iowa team. The milquetoast approach used to bother me, but I've come to appreciate it the more I've seen us lose games due to self-inflicted errors. Being boring but sound is an identity I'd be all for.

The Big10 is pretty loaded this year. 5 teams in the top 11 right now is crazy good. SEC has 2, Big12 1, Pac12 1, and ACC 0.

To make the championship game in that tough a league is crazy! Tougher than the SEC even up to this point.
Top 11? Why did you stop there? Why not go top 12? Don't most pundits consider the top 12 when talking about CFP?

All ISU fans had for decades was SOS!!!! I mean they crowed and bragged on it, like it was a badge of honor, because they were always a bottom 1/3 Big12 team. The thing is, once you in the middle of the pack or in the top 1/3, now it ain’t so hard. Excluding * COVID years the Big12 basically ends up having 3 teams ranked in the top 25. If you are one of those teams, you only have to play 2 ranked teams and 3-4 garage teams, and 3 teams there are 6 or 7 win teams. Sure it’s tough when you suck cause everyone is better than you. When you are a legit CCG contender, you just need to beat the team you are better than and you face 2 top 25 teams if you are in the Big12.

If we're being honest though the west is looking pretty weak this year. I think Iowa State would be 2nd best team in West and when you have 2 divisions and 14 teams it can never be an even playing field like it is in big 12. Problem is that it's the Big 12 that's unique. A lot of teams in Power 5 have the same uneven playing fields. There's actually divisions even weaker than the big ten west every year. Has anyone looked at Clemsons schedule this year

You THINK Iowa State would be the second best team?

This isn’t a place for actual rational thoughts or discussions. I mean ISU would have a chance to finish 2nd, if they could manage to beat Nebraska. We obviously know they wouldn’t be 1st as they can’t beat Iowa. ISU would also struggle with Wisconsin no matter how down they are this year. I mean ISU is so bad in the margins that a team like Wisconsin could make them pay for that.

Waiting for the day Ferentz retires, then Iowa hires 5 coaches in 10 years, becomes Nebraska. They have had a unique run with coaching consistency, it's just too bad the fans are nothing but conceited asswipes who make it impossible to actually cheer for them.
