How far can Iowa go?

This isn’t a place for actual rational thoughts or discussions. I mean ISU would have a chance to finish 2nd, if they could manage to beat Nebraska. We obviously know they wouldn’t be 1st as they can’t beat Iowa. ISU would also struggle with Wisconsin no matter how down they are this year. I mean ISU is so bad in the margins that a team like Wisconsin could make them pay for that.
Rational thoughts are the only ones I have. There's some good posters here but the bad ones on both sides can hijack these rivalry threads. I think yes wisconsin could beat Iowa State just like KState could beat Iowa.

I get it to some degree because they don't have divisional formats. Once big 12 is chopped into divisions though it'll be easier to compare. Big 12 is just unique right now In that it's round robin and best two records gets in championship game.

The thing that always confused me is the way some found the Fake ID of football to be so funny. That was a direct insult to Iowa State at the time.
I would guess Michigan State may end up being the poster for Fake ID this year. Who have they beat so far that is impressive? 3-3 Nebraska, 2-3 Miami-FL or 2-3 Northwestern?

I think you're thinking of past 5 years Nebraska. This one had the dud against Illinois. Then they've killed the inferior teams and played close with two top 15 teams on the road
Don’t kill his narrative, it’s obvious Iowa State is better then every team they won’t actually play. Oklahoma is way overrated but they are still the best team in the conference and Nebraska played right with them.

I think Nebraska is better than they have been, but they still have a little of that same tendency to play fine for most of the game and have some absolutely self-destructing moments. At some point having year in-year out top 25 recruiting classes you'd think they'd almost be solid by accident. They just aren't disciplined enough to put it together for 60 minutes, let alone a full season. They are a pretty veteran team, though. This really should be a good year for them.

For whatever reason, I think the "would ISU win" question comes down to when it's played. I don't feel confident about ISU beating anyone in September. In addition to the non-con struggles, under Campbell ISU is 1-5 in Big 12 openers.

Clones best win is against an FCS team. Taking a wait and see approach on the Clones still at this point is probably wise.
It is pretty crazy to think it's October and neither Iowa or Iowa State has beat a team receiving a single vote in the AP poll. We really don't know how good either teams are if we're being honest

You need to start putting posters on ignore if you want to have rational non-troll discussions about Iowa and Iowa State.

Excellent points and that's thing with a lot of these games we don't think about is how much a team can change during year. I think that's why some are hesitant to admit Nebraska might be ok because of what they did week 1. Biggest think is they've become a lot more physical this year. They're no longer being pounded at the LOS. They have punt game issues similar to Iowa State but I think Iowa State has more talent. It's close enough that I think it would be a 1 score game though. Now in late November if Iowa State hits its stride I might feel differently

Yup and Unfortunately, this board is gonna have another 11-months of BigSwinginDick posts about which team has the best statistics and which conference is weakest.

we probably shouldn't have made you and Maryland look so bad. Both games were over early. I honestly think you both have pretty decent teams.
