How far can Iowa go?

Yeah, friends can mess with each other a bit. But I guess you wouldn't know about that because I doubt you have any friends.

And it isn't like we don't have twice as much food as we can eat at pretty much every tailgate.

Yeah, messing with a friend would be doing that with one cookie - maybe two or three. Doing it to every single cookie she brought to the tailgate just makes you an insufferable prick. And bragging about it on the internet? Sheesh.

How do you know how many cookies she brought? She brought half a dozen and a couple were already gone.

Besides, I really don't care what you think. You are hawk troll who has shown his true colors on here way too often. Buzz off. I'm not the insufferable prick on here. Look in the mirror.

Lol a game at unranked Maryland is not a marquee match up. No one is buying that except Iowa fans. Maryland hasn’t had a winning season since 2014. Point is Iowa has a huge disadvantage because of their soft schedule. Iowa needs to roll teams from here on out to have a shot at the playoff.
You clearly are just trolling and throwing crap against the wall. Iowa has a much tougher schedule than Clemson. Did you even look? We've played and beat 2 ranked teams in two weeks, have 2 more ranked teams on the schedule, and would obviously play another in the Big Ten Championship game if we get there. Hawks could drop a game and still make they playoff if they win the conference. Strength of schedule will not be an issue.

It’s funny to think that a non conference game against Iowa State is what propelled Iowa into the playoff conversation. Have to think the Big 10 is regretting their decision to water down their conference with bad programs like Rutgers and Maryland. Very few marquee match ups any more. Maybe Penn State will turn out to be legit but I don’t see anyone else on Iowa’s schedule who could be a statement win.
I think that's hyperbole. 12-1 with the 1 being Penn state or Wisconsin would likely be enough. Playoffs is so unlikely though so I'm not going to think too much about it.

Idk it smells like 2016 to me. No way Wisconsin is ranked by the time you guys play them. Minnesota maybe. Doubt Indiana crawls into the rankings anytime soon either. PSU is will be a huge game with both teams likely undefeated and in the top ten. If you can win that one and run the table you might have a shot and leaping all the one loss SEC teams.

Even if what you say is true. You have to Think Penn state, Iowa state and the East champion will be ranked. Even 3 Ranked wins with a perfect record on a 19 game winning streak would be more than enough. In that far out scenario we'd likely be the 2nd seed after the SEC winner.

Congrats to you. Of every post in this long thread you are the one guy who is dealing with opponent envy and your post says more about you than it does anything to scorch Iowa. If you want to quote some national sportscast, then why not include what Paul Finebaum said this week about ISU.
Finebaum is ******* rube turd. Nothing he says matters.

Wait a minute. Did I miss something? Your QB just played awful right? Not ours. Playing offense with a lead is entirely different than playing from 3 scores behind right? Clones have a really good defense, I don’t think anybody doubts that. Our offense did very little against a great defense while playing with a lead. If we don’t do anything on O this week then I’ll actually be worried.

And yes, our punter is incredible and that’s a big deal imo.
Your QB had a QBR of 33, Brock's was 16. He didn't play well. Neither did. He had one good throw for a TD.

Petras was just OK I thought. TD throw was great. Had a pretty solid 2nd quarter and wasnt asked to do much after that. He played mistake free and that is what was needed. That being said, I'd definitely like to see him show us something these next few games. At some point he's going to be needed under pressure again and I just don't know what we'll get. Hopefully not beat. lol

He has a strong arm but I'm not sure he's got what it takes to be a featured QB. I guess we will see. Reminds me of Chandler.

B1G 3 in Top 10 and 5 in top 25 of the AP poll.

B12 1 in top 10 and 2 in top 25.

Offense will have problems against teams that can take away the run. That will be magnified against teams that also have a good edge rush as Iowa is pretty weak on the outside. Their OTs did not look good to me at all.

With that said I think there are few conference foes that can shut them down like we did and Petras will be able to do just enough for them to easily handle most of their opponents. They likely have a legitimate top 10 (ish) defense and their special teams are otherworldly. The latter's ability to control the field will likely be the difference in one or two games.

Inevitably they will have a game in which they lose a turnover battle, fall behind, and Petras will likely be their undoing. At least Petras has enough confidence to make some throws which is something you want to see in a young QB. I wish our 4 year starter had that.

In the end I see them finishing the conference slate with a loss and losing to Ohio State in the title game. Right now I'd pick Iowa to beat Ohio State but think the Bucks have a great ability to solve their issues than Iowa does and will have likely done so by the title game.

A very good team that could have been great with a much better QB.

He did what he needed to do. He didn't turn the ball over and made enough throws for the offense to score some points. The pass he threw on the TD was a great throw, with great coverage. A good throw almost always beats good coverage.

What impressed me the most is he doesn't lose confidence to make throws, something you want to see in a young QB. It would be better if he was more mobile but he is who he is at this point. But, as you stated, you'll play another team that will shut down your run and Petras will need to show he can move the ball consistently. Ultimately your season hinges on his development and possibly the development of your tackles. When teams get to him he's not going to evade the sack so you have to keep him clean as much as possible.
