Often when this type of kick lands in an open spot the ball spins backwards, digs in, and the kicking team gets to it quicker than the receiving team.
And, he is a big body with experience playing DB so as someone else mentioned he can get through a block and bring down the ball carrier or receiver on a fake.
I agree with you, love what our guys have done but would like to see us shore up areas of deficiency to become even stronger.
My OLine question has been, what has to occur for us to improve run blocking? Another year in the weight room (some say the OLine push is not good)? More reps as time moves along so that all the guys know each others tendencies better (gelling)? Technique, which will need time to improve?
Or, maybe the current starters are maxing its ability and to get better new faces with better athleticism need to emerge?

A combination of all of these honestly. Also, the snap count doesn't help us beat the D-Line off the ball (I am absolutely NOT saying we should bring back a snap count, because I like not being penalized), but it doesn't help getting that split second edge on the d-line to put them on their heels. Depth could also be a factor. We are getting really good/big young recruits, and as soon as they are able to work their way into the depth chart it will help. There is no substitution for 350 lbs. guards that can move even slightly.

I think its safe to say the offense is an issue. 16 points and 350 yards against a WVU defense that's been giving up 32 and 460 a game is not a good look.
Pretty concerned. At least the defense is playing well enough to win games. Going to be tough against OSU offense next week. Our offense will need to do more
There should be 0 Kempt related running plays in the playbook.
We need to throw it downfield more. Kempt doesnt have crazy arm strength but he has way mroe than people give him credit for. We have the tallest and some of the best receivers in the Big 12 and rarely take advantage of that.

I was OK with both. Butv on the first one we shouldn't of been in 4th down. Kempt hands the ball off instead of keeping it and we score on 2nd down.
