How about that Thomas kid?

Some of the criticisms (confidence, not aggressive enough) as well as the reactionary defenses of Thomas are both silly. He's a solid freshman with high potential on offense that needs to continue to improve his defense. That's it.

I'm on your side State43. I've stated before that if this team is going to be able to take that next step we need production from our SG. That doesn't mean we need 15 ppg, but we needed more than what we were getting in the month of December. I could care less if he is a freshman, I'm not ripping the guy, just being objective and saying if we are going to win the Big 12 we need production from that spot. It's almost unfair that Thomas is in that position as a freshman, but that is were we are at. The offense we got from Thomas yesterday was great in the 1st half. Not just that his shot went down, but that he was taking it. I think he rounds into form.

I think you have to look at it as more of a group contribution from Thomas-Morris-Long. I know they count as bench production as well but as long as the Big 4 are getting their points, it's not a huge issue.

One of the intangibles that rarely gets mentioned is the way his presence on the court opens things up for others. Every opponent knows that he has been touted as a great shooter and that we will try to get him shots. Whatever adjustment an opponent makes for this means that others are covered less. It is hard to point to a specific statistic to measure this impact, but it wouldn't surprise me if Hoiberg had one.

The other four starters are averaging double digit scoring.

No one has said MT is bad. He is a role player that at times struggles in his role, and for awhile was not seeing role player minutes. The staff has appeared to notice and have adjusted his minutes accordingly. There is a small, but vocal group of posters that are very insecure about Thomas. It is likely they had too high of expectations for Matt.

Now, maybe everyone will agree just how losing Bubu really did hurt this team. But, can't change the past, and Matt/Naz/Monte is our present and future and will keep getting better, though.

We're undefeated without Bubu
