Hoiberg's post game comments

Might as well make it six in a row. Nice post, Clonedumb.

Seven. And he's not the only one - the boards have been filled with dumb basically since tipoff. I was hoping the dumb would have simmered down after a few hours. Don't know what I was thinking.

I bet CFH didn't sleep last night. I know games like last night grind him. I hope the team can keep their heads in this.

I am concerned about our shooting. Statistical regression? If so were going to be very hot soon. While Kansas looked great we sunk ourselves with clank after clank after clank.

Probably should have worked on rebounding technique after OU abused us on the offensive glass and caused our first loss of the season, don't ya think?

Didn't have any time with a 2 day turn around. Rebounding is a physical event and the guys needed to get their bodies back after a physical contest at OU

Our tallest guy was the 3rd, often 4th tallest guy on the court. Expect to get out rebounded people. They do the best they can.

That's not how statistical regression works. Regression to the mean means we're going to shoot closer to average more. Hope the last two games aren't our average.

Remember last year when Illinois got off to that torrid start, but then fell off when their three point shooting cratered? This is kind of following that. Hopefully we can find our shooting stroke.

Give credit where credit is due though, Joel Embiid affected a lot of our shots that game. Not many schools have that type of player, so being that terrible in the paint shouldn't continue.

To say that we should have worked on rebounding on only a 24 turnaround is blatantly ignorant. I think we rebounded pretty good consider the trees KU has.

We miss 5 gimmes a game from I can tell. Difference is that they are not as important against lesser teams. If we make our layups and dunks at OU and against KU both games are ver different. Melvin always has a hard time finishing, and hogue and niang tend to have shots roll out.

This is my concern. As a team ISU has had droughts here and there in the previous games, but nothing like we saw last night. I've never seen anything like last night. The OK game was forgivable, but to come home and shoot like that?! That's not Cyclone basketball.

Funny how only a few days ago my mind was preoccupied with staying undefeated as long as possible, but now is shocked with concern over how many of our guys can have a horrible shooting night simultaneously.

Looking at the next five games, color me concerned about making noise in this conference.

I figured 5-6 losses in conference this year would be pretty good and probably in the top 3 in the rankings. Kansas looks to be the team to beat again, if ISU can beat OU in the rematch - then ISU is still in control for 2nd. Lots of basektball left, the kids have 5 days to regroup for an improved Texas squad.

It's been more than 24 hours since December 13. That game was an indicator for how rebounding would go against the top Big 12 teams. The shooting held up that night so ISU was able to pull out a victory, but there hasn't been much improvement in the rebounding since that game. The rebounding differential against Iowa was about the same as it was against KU.

Id disagree that height is the main issue. A few of our players have a tendancy to watch shots versus box out. Even Fran called them on it a couple times. Also hard to rebound when you are glaring at and whining to the refs versus keep playing when there is a live ball.

Correct, at OU, a 6-8 guy did the damage on the boards...

Our rebounding wasn't actually as bad as the box score indicates. Yes, they got a lot of rebounds, but we were pretty equal on offensive rebounds (we had 1 more). Defensive rebounds are going to be lopsided when one team shoots as poorly as we shot tonight. Also, they're really tall which doesn't help things.

We rebounded horribly. When you clank that many threes as we did, we had WAAAY more opportunities for offensive rebounds. We also missed plenty of point blank shots, which are also prime for offensive rebounds. We got absolutely dominated on the glass as bad as a major conference team can.

There are a lot of factors creating our rebounding problems:
-Short team
-Aside from Hogue not an explosive or quick team
-Poor perimeter defense leads to our bigs helping and giving up position
