Probably should have worked on rebounding technique after OU abused us on the offensive glass and caused our first loss of the season, don't ya think?
I bet you're a blast at parties.

Pretty hard to address issues and put in a game plan for the most talented team in the league in 1 day there fella. Got time this week to address some of the issues and hopefully get the kinks worked out.
Id disagree that height is the main issue. A few of our players have a tendancy to watch shots versus box out. Even Fran called them on it a couple times. Also hard to rebound when you are glaring at and whining to the refs versus keep playing when there is a live ball.
Remember last year when Illinois got off to that torrid start, but then fell off when their three point shooting cratered? This is kind of following that. Hopefully we can find our shooting stroke.

Give credit where credit is due though, Joel Embiid affected a lot of our shots that game. Not many schools have that type of player, so being that terrible in the paint shouldn't continue.
We rebounded horribly. When you clank that many threes as we did, we had WAAAY more opportunities for offensive rebounds. We also missed plenty of point blank shots, which are also prime for offensive rebounds. We got absolutely dominated on the glass as bad as a major conference team can.

I disagree, we were aggressive, just missed 3 bunnies, and KU took advantage. Could not get anything to fall. The threes are one thing, but we have not missed that many lay ups all year.
It's been more than 24 hours since December 13. That game was an indicator for how rebounding would go against the top Big 12 teams. The shooting held up that night so ISU was able to pull out a victory, but there hasn't been much improvement in the rebounding since that game. The rebounding differential against Iowa was about the same as it was against KU.

Speaking of people that never post unless they can complain
Hmmm...twice now in 24 hours. I guess some people like to discuss basketball, and some people like to complain about other posters. To each his own.
That said, your infatuation with my posts is kind of creepy.

Disagree. Missing as many shots as we did is not going to help your rebounding. Sure, you may get more offensive rebounds (and we did), but that is going to be outpaced by the defense getting more.We rebounded horribly. Rebounding isn't a "game plan" its a fundamental. They work on that all the time.
Hope they work on shooting as well. From everywhere on the court. Sheeesh.

All you need to know is that NIU got 21 offensive rebounds. Of course, many had concerns before that, but that is when it became indisputable we are not a good rebounding team. As a smaller team, we needed to have four or five guys make rebounding a priority, but we usually only have only two or three.Disappointed we shot so poorly 2 games in a row, but shooting comes and goes. Much more disappointed how poorly we rebounded 2 games in a row, however. Actually, just looked and we've been outrebounded 4 out of 4 conference games. That's not a pretty statistic and going to be tough winning games like that going forward.
Honest question: Was our apparent early season rebounding a mirage against inferior opponents or what?
